About This Role
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Head of Physical Education to lead and enhance the PE department for the upcoming academic year. The ideal candidate will be a remarkable educator with demonstrated leadership capabilities and substantial experience in delivering GCSE and A Level Physical Education.
In this essential middle leadership position, you will be accountable for curriculum development, ensuring teaching excellence, fostering staff growth, and advocating for a culture centered around health, fitness, and competitive sports throughout the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and enhance the PE department for both Secondary and Sixth Form levels
- Provide high-quality instruction and facilitate learning in GCSE and A Level PE
- Design and execute a dynamic, inclusive, and forward-thinking PE curriculum
- Track student progress, assessments, and examination results
- Mentor and support PE staff, including performance evaluations and professional growth opportunities
- Organize and supervise extracurricular sports activities, fixtures, and events
- Encourage student wellbeing, collaboration, and a lifelong passion for physical activity
- Ensure that health and safety protocols are consistently upheld
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives and engage with the broader school community
