Brighton College (Singapore) is seeking to hire a qualified, dynamic, and inspiring EYFS Classroom Teacher to start in August 2025. ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Assume responsibility for teaching a class of children aged from eighteen months to five years, with flexibility in assigning a specific age group.
  • Develop medium-term and short-term plans in alignment with school policies.
  • Maintain the parent portal to ensure it is current and contains useful resources for parents.
  • Collaborate closely with parallel teachers (if applicable) and teaching assistants on termly and weekly planning, as well as with other staff to ensure continuity and progression.
  • Cater to the diverse abilities of children through planned differentiated activities.
  • Conduct monitoring, recording, assessment, and reporting in accordance with school policies.
  • Provide timely and appropriate feedback on students' work, adhering to the marking policy.
  • Collaborate with the music teacher to rehearse and direct students for concerts and services.
  • Oversee the pastoral care of children in the class, fostering positive relationships among students and with the teacher.
  • Manage children's behavior and discipline in line with the school's behavior policy.
  • Supervise lunchtime behavior, dining daily with the children (see staff handbook for procedures).
  • Maintain close communication with the Head Master and other staff regarding any children of concern.
  • Create a stimulating and engaging learning environment in the classroom, with displays regularly updated to reflect current classroom work (see presentation policy).
  • Organize and manage classroom resources, ensuring accessibility for children as appropriate.
  • Ensure an adequate selection of reading books is available in the classroom.
  • Regularly review home/school reading diaries, providing comments as necessary to facilitate effective communication.
  • Keep all documentation up-to-date and accurate (registers, profiles, health matters, etc.).
  • Meet with parents as required to build strong professional relationships and ensure effective communication.
  • Actively promote the school by engaging with prospective parents visiting the classroom, attending open evenings, and representing the school positively.
  • Participate in parents' evenings and school events as necessary.
  • Take responsibility for the care, security, and upkeep of resources and equipment in the classroom and throughout the school.
  • Carry out all duties and procedures outlined in the staff handbook.
  • Organize a termly class assembly and occasionally lead whole school assemblies.
  • Attend Parent Association events and other evening/weekend activities.
  • Participate in staff and curriculum meetings, including occasional whole school meetings.
  • Engage in the appraisal process.
  • Be willing to attend INSETs (sometimes in the evenings) and pursue continuous professional development.
  • Lead an after-school activity club in collaboration with the CCA coordinator.
  • Serve as a positive role model in terms of speech, appearance, behavior, and equipment care.
  • Additional experience in one or more specialized areas will be advantageous.
