Job Summary:

Epsom College in Malaysia seeks a dedicated EAL (English as an Additional Language) teacher for January and August 2026. The ideal candidate will have a strong EAL qualification and experience engaging students at Pre-A1 to B1 CEFR levels, with a focus on developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. A passion for teaching through literature is essential, as the role includes using literature retellings to enhance language learning.


Key Responsibilities


  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with CEFR standards for Pre-A1 to B1 learners.

  • Adapt teaching methods to enhance students’ vocabulary, grammar, and language skills.

  • Incorporate literature retellings using simplified texts to enrich understanding and enjoyment.

  • Monitor student progress with CEFR-aligned assessments and adjust lesson plans to meet individual needs.

  • Employ real-life contexts through role-plays and interactive activities to boost language use.

  • Promote academic and everyday English, fostering confidence and fluency.

  • Utilise CEFR can-do statements to set learning objectives and achievable goals.

  • Create a positive, inclusive environment that encourages participation and risk-taking.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve teaching methods and share resources.


Qualifications


  • PGCE/QTS/TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certification or equivalent.

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, linguistics, or related field; Master’s preferred.

  • Experience teaching EAL students at Pre-A1 to B1 levels.

  • Familiarity with the CEFR framework and can-do statements.

  • Strong interest and ability to integrate literature into teaching.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Experience in literature-based EAL teaching.
