Malvern College Qingdao is seeking a Geography teacher for A-level, IGCSE, and KS3, beginning in August 2026, as part of our continued expansion.

The successful applicant will be instrumental in promoting and implementing the College’s vision and values. This role requires a collaborative member of both the faculty and the wider school community, ensuring Malvern College Qingdao maintains its status as a leading independent international school in China.

Teacher Responsibilities

• Instruct Geography to students aged 12 to 18.
• Report to the Head of Department.
• Assist in crafting the curriculum and resources for the department.
• Assign and assess homework and tests according to school and departmental policies.
• Utilize effective teaching methods and classroom management strategies.
• Set consistent performance targets for students.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of assessment for learning and assessment of learning strategies within the department.
• Complete one evening duty for study hall each week (2 hours).
• Undertake six to eight weekend duties yearly (4 hours each).
• Participation in extracurricular activities is essential.

Personal Specifications

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline, combined with a teaching qualification. A minimum of two years of related teaching experience is required.
• Experience with second language learners is beneficial.
• Experience in a boarding school setting is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Opportunities may be available to become part of the boarding staff and middle management as the school grows.
• We welcome applications from single teachers or teaching couples, provided the partner is not a Housemistress or Housemaster. The location is not suitable for teachers with children below the sixth form.
• A readiness to take on a Head of or Deputy Head of a Boarding House is advantageous. There are opportunities to join the pastoral team and advance into middle management roles.
