About This Role

Muscat International School by Amity is seeking outstanding and dedicated educators for the role of Head of Inclusion.

This pivotal leadership position is within a school aiming for the highest benchmarks of British independent education, where every student is recognized, supported, and encouraged to reach their potential within an environment of care, respect, and academic aspiration.

The Role

As the Head of Inclusion, you will provide both strategic and operational leadership to foster inclusive practices throughout the school, ensuring all students, particularly those with additional needs, can engage with a stimulating and challenging curriculum.

The ideal candidate will spearhead the creation of a cohesive and high-quality inclusion strategy, grounded in effective identification, intervention, and collaboration with staff, students, and families.

A vital aspect of this role is to cultivate a culture where inclusion is perceived not as an isolated service, but as an integral element of outstanding teaching and learning.

This position includes a reduced teaching load, enabling the successful candidate to stay actively involved in classroom activities while overseeing this crucial area.

Key Responsibilities


Developing and leading a comprehensive school-wide inclusion strategy, ensuring clarity, consistency, and impact.


Overseeing the identification, assessment, and support processes for students with additional learning needs.


Ensuring adherence to relevant UK SEND and safeguarding guidelines, suitably adapted for an international environment.


Collaborating closely with teachers to integrate inclusive, high-quality practices in the classroom.


Leading and developing the Inclusion team, including learning support staff.


Advising and supporting colleagues on adaptive teaching, intervention methods, and differentiation strategies.


Partnering with parents for effective communication and relationship-building.


Coordinating with external agencies and specialists as needed.


Contributing to overall academic and pastoral leadership, ensuring that inclusion is a vital part of school development.

The Person

We are in search of a colleague who embodies professional integrity, empathy, and clarity of thought, capable of leading inclusion with compassion and high expectations.

The successful candidate will:


Possess significant experience in inclusion/SEND leadership, with a deep understanding of effective practices.


Demonstrate the ability to create and implement impactful whole-school systems and provisions.


Be a reflective practitioner, dedicated to evidence-based approaches.


Exhibit the ability to support, challenge, and develop colleagues with both confidence and sensitivity.


Be an exceptional communicator, adept at engaging with students, staff, and parents.


Have a strong commitment to ensuring that all students receive appropriate support and challenges.


Be an effective classroom teacher, focused on delivering high-quality instruction.


Show ambition for broader leadership roles and contributions to the school.

A relevant qualification in SEND/Inclusion (such as NASENCo or equivalent) is a plus.

Success After One Year

The successful candidate will have:


Established a clear, comprehensive, and widely understood inclusion framework that aligns with best practices and the school’s priorities.


Implemented effective and consistent identification and support systems that accurately address student needs.


Fostered a culture of inclusive, high-quality teaching, with staff adept at adapting provisions to accommodate various needs.


Enhanced the effectiveness of interventions, demonstrating clear progress for targeted students.


Built a collaborative, well-trained, and purposeful Inclusion team, characterized by role clarity and shared expectations.


Established strong, positive partnerships with parents that emphasize clear communication and trust.


Ensured appropriate compliance with UK SEND frameworks within an international setting.


Made meaningful contributions to the broader academic and pastoral growth of the school, ensuring inclusion is integrated across all phases.

Compensation

£2,000 - £3,000 per month
