JOB DESCRIPTION
Subject teachers at Nexus are reflective educators who utilize inquiry-based teaching methods to cultivate positive learning environments that inspire and challenge students to become proactive, lifelong learners and leaders.
As part of our Individuals & Societies team, you will instruct students in years 7 through 13 (ages 11 to 18). We offer the IB MYP, IGCSE (Edexcel), and IBDP curricula throughout the Secondary school.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You will implement effective teaching practices that support students in becoming successful and self-directed learners who strive for personal excellence by:
•
Establishing learning-focused relationships;
•
Encouraging students to become independent learners;
•
Utilizing appropriate assessment tools for both formative and summative evaluations;
•
Using assessment data to inform planning for progression;
•
Differentiating instruction and providing high-quality scaffolding and feedback;
•
Prompting students to reflect on their learning;
•
Engaging students in setting their learning objectives;
•
Involving parents in their children's education through learner-led conferences and ongoing parent-teacher communication;
•
Incorporating technology to enhance the learning experience;
•
Guiding students in solving real-world problems;
•
Collaborating positively within and across teams;
•
Meeting the Nexus Teacher Professional Standards, committing to professional growth, and engaging in ongoing professional development;
•
Participating in whole-school events and activities as needed;
•
Working with students as a form tutor as assigned, assisting them in setting and achieving personal goals.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
•
A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent)
•
A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Geography or a related field
•
Demonstrated commitment to continuous relevant professional development
•
Experience with bilingual and multilingual learners, as well as learners with diverse needs
•
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in an international school setting, preferably with a curriculum focused on IBMYP, IGCSE, or IBDP.
