About This Role

Are you a qualified, passionate, and dynamic Primary Teacher seeking an overseas adventure? If this resonates with you, we invite you to consider this thrilling position at our expanding international school starting in August 2026.

About the School

The British International School of Ljubljana (BISL) https://britishschool.si/ is an expanding British-style institution catering to students aged 3 to 18 from over 30 different nationalities in the picturesque capital of Slovenia, often referred to as Europe’s “hidden jewel.” With small class sizes and eager learners, BISL is a proud member of COBIS and successfully met all standards during an ISI BSO compliance inspection in March 2024. In a comprehensive inspection conducted in 2021, the school was rated OUTSTANDING IN ALL CATEGORIES.

About the Opportunity

In this role, you will teach in either Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2, inspiring and motivating students as they develop their knowledge and skills in line with the English National Curriculum. The ideal candidate will join a lively and creative team of Primary educators, delivering lessons in English, Maths, and Topic subjects as a class teacher.

We are looking for an exceptional classroom professional who demonstrates a strong commitment to high-quality teaching, learning, and student success. You should possess the passion and drive to create an inspiring and outstanding learning environment that engages and challenges students of all abilities to achieve significant progress. Additionally, applicants should be prepared to actively contribute to the broader community aspect of school life, a responsibility expected of all teaching staff.

Candidates must have a relevant degree and teaching qualification, with a preference for those possessing experience in effectively teaching Primary-aged students. Familiarity with EAL learners from diverse backgrounds will be advantageous.

Due to the challenges associated with obtaining visas and residency, we are unable to consider applicants from outside the UK or EU. For non-EU candidates with family members who hold non-EU citizenship (including UK), family visas can only be issued after one year of employment in Slovenia.

As a British institution focused on delivering the Early Years Framework, English National Curriculum, IGCSE, and A Level to a diverse international student body, proficiency in English is a crucial requirement, and preference will be given to native English speakers.
