Position Overview:
We are looking for an energetic and passionate High School Counselor to become part of our committed team starting in August 2026.
This role presents an exciting opportunity for an individual who is dedicated to education and eager to support the academic achievements of our students.
Job Purpose:
To organize and deliver academic, personal, social, and emotional counseling for students.
Job Scope:
You will be responsible for creating and executing a counseling program that aligns with the school’s objectives and supports the student body, enabling students to thrive in all areas of their lives.
•
Adopt and promote the values and standards of excellence as outlined in the GEMS Core Values.
•
Set up procedures and schedules to provide students with academic, personal, social, emotional, and psychological counseling.
•
Oversee the transition process for students.
•
Implement strategies for obtaining external support for students facing personal challenges and emotional issues.
•
Collaborate with the senior management team to develop experiences and activities that are beneficial for students' overall development, fostering responsibility, leadership skills, teamwork, and other personal and social competencies.
•
Maintain comprehensive student records regarding progress, achievements, extracurricular activities, and interests, while monitoring student development through all available data and evidence.
•
Create proactive measures and protocols to address bullying.
•
Administer suitable testing programs to assess student aptitude and achievement.
•
Establish a system to promptly inform parents about any issues related to classroom performance, school work, or behavioral concerns.
•
Ensure compliance with GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
•
Be prepared to exert effort and commitment beyond the standard work hours when necessary.
•
Participate in staff meetings and join committees as required.
•
Carry out additional duties as directed by direct or dotted line managers/supervisors.
The ideal candidate will possess:
•
A Bachelor of Education degree, or an initial degree in addition to a relevant qualification in psychology or counseling.
•
At least one year of experience in a school setting or prior experience in a counseling role within educational environments.
•
Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of empathy.
•
The ability to build trusting relationships with students.
•
An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and discretion.
•
Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
•
A commitment to developing strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
•
A strong desire to enhance their practice and provide exceptional counseling experiences for students.
•
Availability to start in August 2026.
