About This Role

GEMS Royal Dubai School, a lively and prestigious institution offering a British curriculum, is currently serving students from FS1 to Year 8. Starting in September 2026, the school will broaden its offerings to include Year 9, with a well-defined growth strategy extending through to Year 13.

This cutting-edge facility will further elevate the world-class education provided across our two locations.

We are looking for an energetic, passionate, and highly driven Head of School, Primary to join our Executive Leadership Team starting in September 2026. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a successful history of promoting high standards and a deep commitment to ensuring excellence for every child. The role

In collaboration with the Principal/CEO and Vice Principal, the Head of School, Primary will oversee the Primary Phase, building upon the solid foundations and achievements already established. This position includes a teaching commitment, enabling the successful candidate to exemplify outstanding practices and lead by example.

Key responsibilities



The appointed individual will provide strategic oversight of academic performance and student personal development within the Primary Phase by effectively leading middle leaders and maintaining a relentless focus on excellence.


They will cultivate and maintain robust partnerships with parents, actively promoting the school’s Parents as Partners vision.


Outstanding subject knowledge across all areas of the Primary curriculum is essential, as is the strategic utilization of student performance data to maximize progress and tailor learning pathways.


The Head of School will monitor and exemplify high-quality teaching and learning, collaborating with staff to share best practices and drive innovation based on educational research.


A strong emphasis on safeguarding and student wellbeing will be central to this role, focusing on personal, social, and emotional development.


The post holder will be instrumental in self-evaluation and school development planning, utilizing various evidence to assess impact and drive measurable improvements.


They will embody a high-performance mindset, remaining reflective, resilient, and solution-oriented, while effectively engaging with colleagues, students, and parents, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


This role also includes active participation in the broader life of the school through extracurricular activities and community events, as well as stepping in for the Principal and/or Vice Principal as needed.

Compensation
