OBJECTIVES

• Foster Student-Centered Learning: Create engaging, inquiry-based lessons that ignite curiosity, promote critical thinking, and instill a passion for lifelong learning.

• Advocate for Inclusive Practices: Collaborate with Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) and EAL specialists to ensure all students succeed in a differentiated and supportive atmosphere.

• Enhance Collaborative Planning: Partner with grade-level teams to ensure interdisciplinary units align with school-wide curricular objectives and essential 21st-century competencies.

• Encourage Holistic Development: Support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth through reflective teaching and the cultivation of positive relationships.

• Exhibit High Expectations: Demonstrate and uphold the standards, values, and behaviors expected of students while remaining dedicated to helping every child reach their full potential.

• Maintain Professional Standards: Stay informed about professional responsibilities, statutory frameworks, and school policies, sharing collective accountability for their execution.

• Promote Effective Communication: Develop trusting relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and caregivers to foster development, wellbeing, and achievement.

• Dedicate to Continuous Improvement: Engage in reflective practices, professional development, and collaborative innovation to adapt and elevate teaching methodologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching & Learning

• Implement inquiry-based lessons that connect to real-world situations, encouraging the exploration of significant concepts through hands-on investigations.

• Meaningfully integrate technology to enhance collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.

• Create differentiated learning opportunities in partnership with LSAs and EAL specialists to support various needs, including language learners and students with specialized plans.

• Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, delivering timely and constructive feedback to students and their families.

• Design well-structured lessons that showcase solid subject knowledge, featuring clear objectives and opportunities to develop literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.

• Assign meaningful homework to reinforce learning and maintain student progress.

Collaborative Planning

• Actively engage in grade-level teams to develop interdisciplinary units that align with the school’s inquiry framework.

• Share resources, strategies, and student work samples to enhance curriculum delivery and assessment methods.

• Co-plan with LSAs and EAL specialists to ensure effective in-class support during lessons and small-group activities.

Classroom Community & Safeguarding

• Foster a welcoming and respectful classroom environment where students feel safe to take risks and appreciate diverse perspectives.

• Collaborate with LSAs to implement inclusive practices (e.g., visual supports, multisensory tasks, adaptive technologies).

• Adhere to safeguarding policies by proactively addressing wellbeing concerns and maintaining open lines of communication with families.

• Establish clear behavior management systems that encourage self-discipline and independence.

Professional Growth

• Participate in peer observations, feedback sessions, and coaching/mentoring to enhance teaching methods.

• Attend workshops focused on inquiry-based pedagogy, EAL techniques, and inclusive education to stay updated on best practices.

• Engage in performance management and seek out identified professional development opportunities.

Additional Duties

• Oversee students' health and safety during school-related activities, both on and off campus.

• Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Junior School.

• All team members are expected to lead one enriching After-School Activity (ASA) weekly, cultivating interests in Sports, The Arts, or Culture — promoting creativity, teamwork, and lifelong learning in our vibrant school community.

BASIC QUALIFICATION

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.

• Qualification: Teaching certification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).

• Language: Proficiency in written and spoken English.

• Working experience: Minimum of 2 years of classroom teaching experience in junior school environments.

EXPERTISE

• Inquiry-Based Teaching: Demonstrated ability to create concept-driven, interdisciplinary units.

• Collaborative Differentiation: Experience in co-planning with LSAs/EAL educators to tailor lessons for diverse learners.

• EAL Strategies: Knowledge of scaffolding techniques for multilingual classrooms (e.g., visual aids, language frames).

• Classroom Management: Proficient in nurturing independence while maintaining a structured, joyful learning space.
