About This Role
The International German School Hefei is looking for a flexible and engaging EAL Teacher who also possesses teaching skills in either Arts, Music, P.E., or ICT to support learners in both primary and secondary levels.
As a newly founded institution offering a dual-track system – German-Bilingual and English-Cambridge – we are dedicated to creating a welcoming and language-conscious educational atmosphere from scratch. Our students primarily hail from German, Chinese, and Korean language backgrounds, making English language acquisition vital for their academic and personal growth.
This role presents a unique chance to collaborate on the development of an EAL program, establish a comprehensive and inclusive EAL framework, and spearhead the creation of a language-sensitive educational setting. You will play an integral part in defining the program and fostering a culture of professional growth and academic creativity.
2. Teach EAL to small groups and/or support in-class instruction for primary and/or secondary students
3. Evaluate English proficiency and monitor student progress using EAL frameworks
4. Instruct in Arts, Music, P.E., or ICT within a dual-track system aligned with the IB framework (German national curriculum / Cambridge Curriculum)
5. Collaborate closely with homeroom teachers to tailor instruction for EAL learners
6. Contribute to the school’s developing language policy and teacher training initiatives
Candidate profile
7. Qualification in English as an Additional Language (EAL/ESL/ELL) or equivalent
8. Additional teaching experience in Arts, Music, P.E., or Science at primary and/or secondary levels
9. Knowledge of WIDA or other EAL proficiency frameworks is highly advantageous
10. Experience in curriculum development or involvement in school start-up initiatives is beneficial
