Location: Southeast Attendance Service – based at Baverstock Oaks School
The South East Attendance Service is seeking a professional and skilled Attendance Advisor to join our dedicated team. This position plays a vital role in supporting the wellbeing of children and young people aged 5–16 who are experiencing critical attendance issues and have become disengaged from school.
Drawing on your expertise, you will work directly with students, their whānau, and schools to identify barriers to engagement, strengthen relationships, and develop strategies that promote regular attendance and positive learning outcomes.
This is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week), with negotiable hours and days to ensure operational effectiveness while accommodating the needs of students and families. The role includes the use of a work vehicle, laptop, and mobile phone.
- Pay rate: to be discussed and will depend on experience
- Flexible hours may include occasional evening visits or professional development opportunities
Attendance Advisors are employed by the Baverstock Oaks School Board and report to the principal.
To be considered, applicants will demonstrate:
- A qualification in social work or education (preferred) and a strong commitment to supporting student wellbeing
- High levels of cultural responsiveness and empathy
- Excellent communication and relational skills across diverse communities
- Integrity, professionalism, and resilience in challenging situations
- The ability to build and maintain effective community and interagency connections
- Compliance with the Children’s Act 2014 requirements for working with young people
- A full, clean, and current New Zealand driver licence
