Secondary Biology Teacher (m/f/d)
About This Role
Secondary Biology Teacher (m/f/d)
St. George’s the British International School, Munich, Germany
As we expand our school, St. George’s is looking for a qualified Biology teacher to join our secondary education team, commencing in August 2026.
The School
Since its establishment in September 2013, St. George’s School Munich has developed into a thriving community with over 800 students and 100 educators. We create a supportive environment that combines a thorough curriculum with a family-oriented ethos, providing a warm atmosphere for both staff and students.
In September 2017, we moved to a modern, purpose-built campus in the city, which boasts outstanding educational facilities for learners of all ages and subjects.
Our curriculum adheres to the National Curriculum, and we offer IGCSE qualifications to our Upper School students. Our Sixth Form students prepare for the International Baccalaureate Diploma.
As one of three schools within a network across Germany, St. George’s offers the successful candidate numerous opportunities for professional development and career advancement within the school group.
The Location
Our new campus is located in the Schwabing-Freimann district, just north of the city center. The site is easily reachable via the U6 metro line and the A9 motorway.
Munich, the capital of Bavaria and the third-largest city in Germany, is a vibrant cultural center with a diverse international community. Situated at the northern edge of the Alps, the city provides a high quality of life along with ample opportunities for travel and outdoor activities.
Munich Airport is 30km from the school, offering numerous daily flights to the UK, while high-speed rail services connect Munich to various destinations across Europe.
The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic educator who has a solid track record of helping students achieve their full potential. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of experience, passion, and enthusiasm for teaching that will inspire our pupils.
The secondary department serves students aged 11-18 and follows the Key Stage 3, IGCSE, and IB Diploma curricula. Familiarity with the British education system is crucial, and while experience in IB teaching is preferred, it is not a requirement.
Science is a core subject across all age groups. In Middle School, students participate in a General Science course that includes Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. At age 16, students take Cambridge IGCSE examinations, with most opting for the double combined award. In the Sixth Form, students can select one or two science subjects as part of the IB diploma, with Biology offered at both Standard and Higher Level, making it a popular choice.
As our school continues to grow and develop, candidates should display flexibility and a readiness to support their colleagues. A strong dedication to contributing to the enriching pastoral and extracurricular life of the school will also be advantageous.
