About This Role

Duties:

A. Knowledge and Understanding:
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of the National Curriculum, IGCSE, and IBDP subjects.
- Demonstrate a solid grasp of the subject matter.
- Address subject-related questions from students confidently and be aware of common misconceptions and errors in the field.
- Familiarity with all secondary school curriculum and assessment standards.

B. Planning and Setting Expectations:
- Establish clear teaching goals, content, lesson structures, and sequences that are suitable for both the subject and the students.
- Set challenging and appropriate expectations for student learning and motivation. Define clear objectives for student progress that build upon previous accomplishments and experiences.
- Recognize students with special educational needs as well as those who are gifted and talented, and know how to seek support to provide targeted assistance. If applicable, create and maintain records for Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

C. Teaching and Managing Student Learning:
- Facilitate effective teaching for whole classes, groups, and individuals to meet learning objectives, maintain momentum and challenge, and maximize the use of instructional time.
- Employ engaging teaching methods that stimulate students’ intellectual curiosity, including effective questioning, clear presentations, and optimal resource usage.
- Maintain high standards for student behavior, establishing discipline through focused teaching and fostering positive, productive relationships.
- Encourage positive behavioral patterns, boost self-esteem, and enhance independent work among students to support their learning and development within an ICT framework.

D. Assessment and Evaluation:
- Evaluate how well learning objectives have been achieved and utilize this assessment to inform future instruction.
- Grade and review students’ classwork and homework, providing constructive oral and written feedback while setting progress targets.
- Understand the expectations set forth by the National Curriculum, particularly regarding KS4 and KS5, when applicable.

E. Relations with Parents and the Wider Community:
- Know how to prepare and deliver informative reports to parents.
- Recognize that learning extends beyond the classroom and provide opportunities for students to connect their studies to real-world and work-related contexts.
- Acknowledge the importance of collaborating with external agencies.

F. Managing Own Performance and Development:
- Take responsibility for personal professional growth and stay informed about pedagogical research and developments in their teaching subjects.
- Understand professional responsibilities in relation to school policies, guidelines, and practices.
- Model exemplary behavior for students in terms of presentation and conduct.
- Critically assess their own teaching effectiveness to drive improvement.

G. Managing and Developing Staff and Other Adults:
- Foster effective working relationships with colleagues, including co-teachers, specialist educators, and support staff.

H. Managing Resources:
- Select and effectively utilize books, equipment, ICT, and other educational resources to achieve teaching objectives.

Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and teaching certification or license with strong subject knowledge.
- At least 2 years of full-time teaching experience in an educational setting.

- Exhibit a rigorous approach to teaching across various grade levels.
- Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
