We are currently seeking a talented education assistant to work alongside teachers in our primary program. In this position, you will become part of a dedicated teaching team committed to supporting the growth and development of young girls in the Junior School. Responsibilities:
β Collaborate with teachers to create engaging programs tailored for primary classrooms (Grades 1-3)
β Provide assistance to individual students and small groups who require additional support throughout the school day (including social, emotional, executive functioning, and academic areas)
β Support students as outlined in their Individual Education Plan (IEP) or School Based Support Plan (SBSP), following direction from classroom and learning resource teachers
β Work together with educators to devise support strategies that meet the specific needs of individual students
β Keep thorough records of student progress and behavior to identify triggers, patterns, and effective interventions
β Attend regular meetings with the educational team to discuss student learning
β Help create an inquiry-based learning environment
β Assist teachers with various tasks and responsibilities as needed
β Prepare instructional materials and design visual displays for the classroom
β Supervise students during transitions, lunchtime, and outdoor play
β Participate in our after-school care and co-curricular activities
β Support school events such as Public Speaking, Sports Day, and concerts
Qualifications:
β Bachelor of Education/Education Assistant Certificate/Diploma or equivalent preferred
β 1 - 3 years of experience working with children in an educational setting
β Familiarity with supporting diverse learning needs, grounded in research and best practices for inclusive classrooms (e.g., ADHD, ASD, sensory and regulation needs)
β Experience in documenting student behavior
β Background in fostering early literacy and numeracy skills
β Understanding of the learning preferences of young girls
β Demonstrated ability to be innovative, adaptable, and highly organized with strong attention to detail
β Excellent collaborative skills
β Strong written and verbal communication abilities
β Effective time management skills
β Enthusiasm, commitment, and a willingness to engage in the co-curricular program and the diverse life of the school community
