About This Role

Your new school
Ripplevale School and College is a vibrant independent special school accommodating 170 students aged 6 to 25 years, situated in the historic town of Rochester. As part of the Ripplevale family of schools, we adopt a holistic, child-centered approach to fulfill the diverse needs of our students, the majority of whom possess an Education and Health Care Plan. Their identified needs may encompass Autism Spectrum Disorder, dyslexia, speech, language, communication difficulties, DCD, sensory challenges, and elevated anxiety levels.

Your new role
In the capacity of an SEN Teacher, you will be instrumental in planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the diverse needs of pupils with Autism, Dyslexia, and other additional requirements. Your teaching will span various curriculum areas, adjusting your methods to suit individual learning profiles. You will collaborate closely with colleagues, external agencies, and families to track student progress and maintain comprehensive pupil profiles.

Your responsibilities will include developing lesson plans, upholding behavior expectations through positive reinforcement, and contributing to curriculum enhancement and school-wide initiatives. You will assess student learning, report on their progress, and engage in professional development, standardization meetings, and training to bolster both your own practice and that of your colleagues.

What you’ll need to succeed
To excel in this role, you should have experience teaching pupils in Key Stages 2–4 and possess the ability to effectively adapt learning for those with SEND. A solid understanding of Autism Spectrum Conditions and/or Dyslexia is crucial, along with strong classroom management skills and a genuine commitment to holistic, person-centered teaching. You should feel at ease collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, participating in assessments, attending meetings, and supporting teaching assistants and trainee instructors. A proactive stance on professional development and a strong dedication to safeguarding are vital as well.

What we're looking for
- A passion for teaching and a commitment to supporting pupils with varied needs.
- Experience or the capability to teach across multiple key stages.
- Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

If you are eager to begin a fulfilling career and leave a lasting impact, we would be delighted to hear from you!
