The Opportunity
Raoul Wallenberg International School (RWIS) is seeking an enthusiastic and flexible Secondary Teacher with expertise in Spanish and Catalan to become part of our growing institution for the academic year 2026–2027. This position offers a unique opportunity to join a developing school, teaching students in Years 7–9 initially, with plans to expand to Years 10–13 in the near future. Position Scope
Teaching and Learning:

• Develop and deliver engaging, inquiry-driven lessons in Spanish and Catalan, and potentially other subjects – The RWIS Way!

• Incorporate project-based learning, service and experiential learning, sustainable development education, and real-world applications into your teaching to spark curiosity and critical thinking among students.

• Promote a cross-curricular approach by collaborating with colleagues in other subjects to integrate concepts throughout the curriculum.

• Advocate for inclusion and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of all learners, ensuring that every student has access to the curriculum and opportunities to succeed.

Curriculum Planning and Assessment:

• Design, plan, and deliver lessons in Spanish and/or Catalan, balancing theoretical concepts with practical applications.

• Utilize both formative and summative assessments to evaluate and track student progress, providing timely feedback to support their learning journey.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, managing data effectively to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.

• Collaborate with fellow educators to ensure consistency in curriculum planning and assessment practices across various subjects and year levels.

Character Development and Values-Based Education:

• Support the character development of students by integrating the school's core values and Class Connect Programme, fostering a strong sense of community and respect.

• Model and instill essential values such as honesty, compassion, courage, and determination through your daily teaching and interactions with students.

Student Wellbeing and Support:

• Prioritize the emotional and social wellbeing of students, ensuring they feel safe, valued, and supported in their learning environment.

• Collaborate with the Student Life Coordinator to address individual student needs and create a nurturing space for holistic growth.

Collaboration and Community Building:

• Work alongside colleagues across the Secondary school to plan, implement, and assess interdisciplinary teaching and learning initiatives.

• Build meaningful relationships with students, families, and the wider school community by maintaining open communication and strong partnerships.

• Actively participate in the school's professional development programme and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Bringing Personal Passions to Life:

• Integrate your unique skills, interests, and subject expertise into the classroom and the broader school community, enriching the educational experiences of students.

• Participate in the ASA (After School Activities) Programme by leading clubs, activities, or workshops that align with your passions and strengths.

Ideal Candidate
Qualifications and Experience:

• A degree in Secondary Education with a focus on Spanish and Catalan; preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s degree or PhD.

• A minimum of 2–3 years of experience in secondary education, ideally within an inquiry-based international or British school context.

• Familiarity with international programmes such as the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), Cambridge International Curriculum, and International Baccalaureate (DP).

• A proven history in secondary education, showcasing expertise in teaching, learning, and assessment practices.

• Proficiency in English, Spanish, and Catalan (fluency in additional languages such as Swedish, German, or others is a plus).

• A Certificat de capacitació per a l’ensenyament en llengua catalana is required.
