Serving students aged 3 to 18, DIS operates as a not-for-profit institution and is part of the Al Futtaim Education Foundation. Established in 2005, the school is celebrated for its outstanding inclusive and holistic educational approach. Our recent inspection highlighted several key strengths:

- Staff express great pride in the school, acknowledging it as well-led and providing a safe, inclusive learning environment.
- The quality of teaching, learning, and assessment throughout the school is exceptional.
- Teachers maintain high expectations for students, consistently challenging them to excel in lessons and activities.
- Staff enjoy their work environment and feel respected, treated fairly, and valued.
- The curriculum is meticulously planned and sequenced, effectively building on students’ prior knowledge.
- DIS emphasizes academic progress and achievement.

Our diverse student body features over 90 nationalities, which is integral to the community spirit of the school. Our exceptional facilities enable a holistic educational experience, offering opportunities in sports, performing arts, academics, technology, leadership, and creative pursuits, ensuring our students have enriching experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

While our admissions process is non-selective, our students consistently achieve exceptional exam results comparable to those of leading UK schools. We prioritize digital literacy to equip our pupils for the demands of a rapidly evolving world, facilitating their transition to top universities globally.

In the Early Years, our personalized, play-based, and continuous provision rigorously assesses students against the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, focusing on essential learning skills and laying the groundwork for the Primary Curriculum. Our primary students benefit from a rich and broad curriculum, including various non-core subjects. Senior students undertake IGCSE examinations in Year 11 before progressing to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) or the International Baccalaureate Career-Related Programme (IBCP) in Years 12 and 13.

The governance of Deira International School is provided by the Al-Futtaim Education Foundation (AFEF), which aims to elevate education in the UAE to meet future readiness and prepare students for a globalized, technologically advanced world. AFEF is an initiative of the Al Futtaim family, supporting the vision of the Government of Dubai and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) to foster a globally competitive economy while maximizing social contributions to the community through this not-for-profit effort.
