We are looking for an exceptionally qualified and talented Head of Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish and French) to join our team in August 2026 and lead our MFL department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage the Modern Foreign Languages department, ensuring top-quality instruction in Spanish and French.
  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons that align with the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) and other international curricula.
  • Design and implement innovative lessons tailored to diverse learning styles, incorporating modern teaching methods and technology.
  • Evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments, upholding high academic standards.
  • Provide pastoral support to enhance student well-being and collaborate with the school’s well-being team.
  • Encourage student involvement in extracurricular activities, cultural events, and language-focused initiatives.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and initiatives aimed at school improvement.
  • Cultivate a positive departmental and classroom environment with high expectations for behavior and discipline.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practices and support professional development goals.
  • Maintain consistent communication with parents and stakeholders regarding student progress.
  • Stay updated on educational developments and engage in ongoing professional development.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A relevant degree in Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish and French) or a related field, alongside a valid teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Spanish and French at the secondary level, preferably with knowledge of the IB curriculum (IBDP) or other international programs.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or departmental management role is highly desirable.
  • The ability to inspire and motivate students, fostering a love for languages and culture.
  • Strong skills in differentiating instruction to cater to diverse learners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for building strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Experience in leveraging technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance the learning experience.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
