Position Summary
In this role, reporting to the Director of Technology and Innovation, the Technology Integration and Technical Operations Manager will lead the Technical Operations team and work collaboratively with specialist leads to oversee the development, maintenance, and execution of school systems. This position will implement strategic priorities and contribute to crafting an information technology plan that caters to the evolving needs of a vibrant 21st-century educational environment and operational framework. The Manager will act as a proactive change leader, guiding the Technical Operations team and collaborating with educators to enhance the integration of technology in educational practices. This role encompasses the execution of the York House technology plan across the school community.

Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and mentor the Technical Operations team, which includes the Technology & Audio Video Specialist and two Junior Analysts, fostering a collaborative culture focused on service and professional development.
- Be an integral member of the department’s leadership team, working closely with peers in infrastructure and data analytics to ensure that all technical operations align seamlessly with strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with the Education Technology Coordinator and tech team to implement the technology plan (designed by the Director of Technology and Innovation) with all stakeholders, ensuring high standards of support, operational efficiency, and digital literacy.
- Partner with faculty and the Director of Technology and Innovation to investigate and facilitate the pedagogical integration of new technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence and Virtual/Augmented Reality.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with educational technology organizations, vendors, and peer institutions to foster professional development opportunities and innovative program initiatives.
- Continuously assess emerging K–12 educational technology trends, instructional methods, and research to inform best practices.
- Evaluate the technology skill levels of staff and students, recommending tailored training programs as needed.
- Develop and provide learning resources for faculty and students, including tutorials, manuals, websites, and other interactive materials.
- Organize and lead professional development training sessions focused on technology.
- Collaborate with database administrators across various departments to uphold the integrity of the school’s information management.
- Support stakeholders using Blackbaud school operations software (covering report cards, transcripts, parent/teacher interviews, admissions, and scheduling).
- Work with the department's data analytics lead to ensure data middleware and integrations fulfill the school's operational and reporting requirements.
- Investigate and implement automation workflows (e.g., utilizing tools like n8n) to enhance the efficiency and reliability of departmental and school-wide processes.
- Maintain auditing systems to increase visibility and accountability.
- Lead the Daily Operational Stand-up and partake in the Weekly Tactical & Project Review to ensure the team’s efforts align with departmental priorities.
- Represent technical interests in the Quarterly Pedagogical Integration Meeting and the Quarterly Data Governance Group, providing operational context and ensuring user needs are met.
- Oversee the upgrading, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT software systems that manage sensitive data for students, parents, donors, and employees, working closely with the department’s infrastructure lead.
- Communicate with the broader community about technology literacy, adhering to the YHS Technology plan with collaborative input.
- Collaborate with the Director of Technology and Innovation to review and advise on technology policies for staff and students, ensuring adherence to relevant acceptable use guidelines.
- Participate in the budgeting process for academic and administrative software, hardware, and services.
- Manage operations of the theatre and other specialized facilities, developing systems, policies, procedures, and training for their effective operation.
- Attend ISABC Director of Technology meetings on behalf of the Director as needed.
- Supervise student groups, including the student theatre/technology club.
- Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications
- A minimum of four years of relevant work experience.
- Strong managerial and demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies, coaching techniques, and curriculum development.
- Ability to remain current and research new instructional technologies.
- Proficient in up-to-date computer software, including student information and learning management systems (preferably Blackbaud), Google Workspace, Raiser’s Edge, digital video editing, image processing, internet streaming, and Mac environments.
- Familiarity with modern infrastructure concepts, including Linux systems, containerization, and private cloud platforms, to effectively manage projects with specialist team members.
- Experience with various classroom, theatre, and end-user hardware and software platforms and technology tools.
- Previous experience in leadership roles, supervising technology teams of up to 5.
- Experience in an independent school setting is advantageous.
- Understanding or experience with the pedagogical integration of AI in K-12 education is beneficial.
- Experience with containerized environments (e.g., Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes) is a significant asset.
- Familiarity with private cloud platforms (e.g., OpenStack) and automation tools (e.g., n8n) is a plus.
- Experience integrating VR/AR technologies in educational contexts is advantageous.
- Experience with software project management and installations is a plus.
- Experience with K-12 aged students is beneficial.
- A bachelor’s degree or diploma in computer science or a related field is highly preferred.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
