• Support the academy in realizing its overall vision and strategic objectives, contributing to the achievement of relevant targets outlined in the improvement plan and self-evaluation form.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and comply with the academy's policies regarding safe working practices and equal opportunities.
• Follow the academy's Performance Management Policy, ensuring ambitious annual targets are established and fulfilling the role of performance management reviewer if directed by the Principal.
• Participate in annual training related to child protection, safeguarding, and health and safety, as well as any additional training deemed necessary for academy improvement or performance management.
• Attend all staff briefings.
• Foster an environment conducive to outstanding learning and teaching.
• Define clear teaching objectives and detail how they will be taught and assessed.
• Assign tasks that challenge students and maintain high levels of engagement.
• Establish clear targets that build on previous achievements.
• Identify students with special educational needs or exceptional abilities.
• Provide structured lesson plans that maintain pace, motivation, and challenge.
• Utilize assessments effectively to ensure comprehensive coverage of the curriculum.
• Leverage performance data and key indicators to inform planning and deliver differentiated learning tailored to individual needs.
• Ensure effective teaching practices and optimal use of available time.
• Maintain an effective learning environment in line with the academy's procedures, promoting good practices regarding punctuality, behavior, work standards, and homework.
• Employ a variety of teaching methods to:
• Align approaches with content, organize information, present key ideas, and use appropriate vocabulary.
• Implement effective questioning techniques, listen attentively to students, and address errors and misconceptions.
• Select suitable learning resources and develop study skills through library, I.C.T., and other educational technologies.
• Ensure students acquire and consolidate the knowledge, skills, and understanding relevant to the subject taught.
• Reflect critically on personal teaching practices to enhance effectiveness.
• Evaluate and monitor student work, setting targets for progression.
• Systematically assess and record student progress, maintaining records to monitor understanding and completion, identify strengths and areas for development, inform planning, and recognize student achievement levels.
• Conduct assessments for students as requested by examination bodies, departmental, and academy protocols.
• Prepare informative reports for parents.
• Engage in subject-specific or broader academy initiatives, developing plans that set clear targets and success criteria for development and maintenance.
• Contribute to the overall visioning activities of the academy.
• Strive to provide every child with the opportunity to reach their potential and meet high expectations.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective resource sharing for the benefit of the academy, department, and students.
• Participate in the collective life of the academy through active involvement in meetings and management systems essential for coordinated leadership and management.
• Engage in marketing and outreach activities such as Open evenings/afternoons, Parent Teacher Consultations, and events with partner academies.

Minimum Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Drama, Performing Arts, or a related field, along with a teaching qualification.
• At least 2 years of experience teaching Drama up to GCSE and A Level is preferred but not required.

Job Specific and Knowledge

• Experience working with students for whom English is not the first language.
• A passion for teaching and a commitment to holistic child development.
• The ability to lead Dance/Drama extracurricular activities at the secondary level is advantageous.
• A high degree of professionalism and a focus on the well-being of children.
• Continuous involvement in extracurricular activities.
• A constructive, solution-oriented approach to work.
• A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police clearance.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
