Horizon English School is on the lookout for an outstanding Inclusion Teacher (Maternity Cover – 2 terms) to join our inclusion department. Role Overview:

4. To engage in the co-curricular and broader community initiatives of the school.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils:

• Integrate the school’s vision, mission, and core values into daily practice and serve as a positive role model.

• Prioritize the safety and welfare of students above all else.

• Treat all members of the school community—including students, parents, colleagues, and governors—with respect and consideration.

• Adhere to the principles and procedures outlined in our safeguarding policies and teaching and learning guidelines.

• Remain vigilant and report any behavior that may indicate a student is at risk of harm.

Identification of individual student needs:

• Conduct an ‘assessment of educational need’ when students enter the school.

• Utilize the results of the ‘assessment of educational need’ along with other data to accurately identify the category and level of SEND experienced by each student.

Modification and adaptation of curriculum structures:

• Ensure that students with SEND receive the necessary curricular accommodations to facilitate equitable access to educational opportunities.

• Guarantee that these curricular adjustments enhance the learning experience for all students, particularly those with SEND.

• Assist in the development of flexible curricular pathways that cater to the diverse cognitive, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of students.

• Ensure these pathways are supported by a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.

• Support teachers in accessing and utilizing new technologies, including ICT, mobility aids, devices, and assistive technologies essential for meeting the needs of individual students, particularly those with SEND.

Development of suitable assessment procedures:

• Ensure that classroom teachers implement formative assessment, universal design for learning, differentiation, and other student-centered activities to help students achieve their curricular learning goals.

• Guarantee that all students experiencing SEND have fair access to various assessment forms, providing guidance on necessary assessment modifications and access arrangements.

Modeling effective teaching strategies and supporting teacher development:

• Provide coaching and co-teaching opportunities for classroom teachers to ensure inclusivity in the learning environment.

• Enable classroom teachers to master inclusive education techniques, curriculum modifications, personalization of learning objectives, and assessment strategies.

• Assist classroom teachers in creating opportunities for meaningful participation of all students in shared learning environments (e.g., lesson planning, classroom organization, purposeful groupings).

• Ensure that classroom teachers focus on building relationships with students and understanding their learning profiles, performance levels, and personalized learning outcomes.

• Support teachers in developing Learning Support Assistants working with children in their classes.

Skills & Competencies:

• Qualified teacher status (or equivalent).

• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.

• Demonstrated capability in managing teams, resolving issues, and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
