• A minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience in the UK or at a British Curriculum school.

• Proven experience with data systems, including student tracking, interventions, target setting, assessment, recording, and reporting.

The primary responsibility of the Head of Subject is to provide robust academic leadership. The Head of Subject is tasked with leading, managing, and developing the department to ensure the highest standards of excellence are achieved in all endeavors. All Heads of Subject are expected to demonstrate leadership, convey vision, and empower others to implement the agreed departmental strategy within the school.

Academic Leadership

• Develop, execute, and assess the Subject Curriculum and Schemes of Work for the Secondary school in alignment with the English National Curriculum.

• Design, gather, and analyze relevant assessments across all year groups, utilizing this data to enhance teaching, learning, and student outcomes.

• Ensure that parents receive high-quality reports in accordance with school-wide standards.

• Choose suitable external examination courses.

• Oversee the performance of all department staff and report to the Head of Secondary regarding training needs, exemplary practices, and areas of concern.

• Foster a culture of excellence, cooperation, and respect both within and beyond the department.

• Collaborate with Senior Staff to allocate staff timetables effectively, maximizing the utilization of all staffing resources, and pursue opportunities for teamwork with others outside the department.

• Propose suitable plans, suggestions, and recommendations to the Head of Secondary aimed at enhancing the Department.

• Innovate and develop new programs to attract prospective students and promote the department.

• Provide training for teachers and support pastoral care.

• Ensure a safe and healthy environment for both staff and students, adhering to health and safety regulations.

• Conduct lesson observations within the department, mentor and coach staff, and provide feedback on these observations.

• Adhere to internal and external quality assurance and risk management protocols.

Resource Management

• Ensure the Department operates within its allocated budget.

• Be responsible for Departmental stock, ensuring its effective use and maintenance.

General

• Teach a schedule that aligns with the school curriculum's requirements.

• Offer a suitable extra-curricular program of activities through the department.

• Guarantee the health and safety of all staff and students during department lessons.

• Undertake any additional tasks and responsibilities as reasonably directed by the Head of Secondary or Principal.

Health and Safety

• Take all necessary precautions to safeguard students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

• Support the implementation of all policies and regulations governing student life and conduct.

• Ensure adherence to all health and safety rules and procedures.

• Maintain awareness of all health and safety measures necessary while on school premises.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
