About This Role

Job Title: Primary School Principal

Reports to: Head of School

Job Overview
The Primary School Principal plays a crucial role in leading, managing, and administering the primary school, ensuring that high-quality education is delivered in alignment with the institution's mission and values. Reporting directly to the Head of School, the Principal is responsible for overseeing all academic, operational, and disciplinary aspects, collaborating closely with staff, students, and parents to foster a positive and enriching learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities by Major Administrative Functions

1. Academic Leadership
● Curriculum Oversight
Direct the creation and execution of the primary school curriculum, ensuring it adheres to educational standards while accommodating the varied learning needs of students.

● Teacher Supervision and Development
Provide continuous support and oversight for teaching staff through classroom evaluations, performance assessments, and professional development opportunities to uphold high teaching standards.

● Student Achievement and Assessment
Evaluate student performance by utilizing assessments and data to implement intervention strategies aimed at enhancing academic results.

● Innovative Learning Practices
Promote the incorporation of creative teaching approaches and educational technologies to improve the learning experience.

2. School Operations and Resource Management
● Daily Operations Management
Manage the daily operations of the primary school, ensuring seamless functioning across various areas, including facilities management, classroom activities, and student safety.

● Budget and Resource Allocation
Collaborate with the Head of School to oversee the primary school budget, ensuring financial resources are utilized effectively in accordance with educational priorities.

● Timetable and Scheduling
Review and approve class schedules, ensuring optimal resource usage and appropriate teacher assignments across classes.

● Staffing and Recruitment
Spearhead the recruitment and placement of primary teaching and support staff, ensuring the school is equipped with a balanced and competent team to fulfill students' educational needs.

3. Student Discipline and Well-being
● Behavioural Management
Establish and implement disciplinary policies to create a safe and respectful learning environment. Address significant behavioral issues among students, working closely with educators and parents to apply corrective measures.

● Student Welfare
Prioritize student well-being by collaborating with counselors and support personnel to meet the emotional, psychological, and social needs of students.

4. Parent and Community Engagement
● Parent Communication and Involvement
Foster strong relationships with parents, serving as the primary contact for addressing concerns and encouraging their involvement in their children’s education.

● Parent Meetings and School Events
Coordinate regular meetings and school events to keep parents informed and engaged in school activities.

5. Strategic Planning and Development
● School Vision and Mission Alignment
Ensure that all initiatives and programs within the primary school are in alignment with the overarching vision and mission of the school, as guided by the Head of School.

● School Improvement Plan
Create, implement, and assess the Primary School Improvement Plan (SIP), focusing on enhancing academic performance, operational effectiveness, and student welfare.

● Policy Compliance
Guarantee adherence to all school policies, ensuring compliance with national education standards and directives from the school board.

6. Administrative Leadership and Reporting
● Management of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
Lead and support the Primary School’s Senior Leadership Team, delegating responsibilities efficiently to ensure effective management of key areas.

● Reporting to the Head of School
Provide regular updates to the Head of School regarding the academic and operational status of the primary school, including any major developments or challenges.

Qualifications

● Education: Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field (Doctorate preferred).

● Experience: At least 7-10 years of experience in teaching and school leadership, with a minimum of 5 years in an international primary school environment.

● Skills: Exceptional leadership and communication capabilities; strong organizational skills; comprehensive understanding of curriculum development, educational management, and student well-being.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
