Make a Difference where it matters most.
Are you a passionate advocate for vulnerable learners with the specialist skills to help them thrive? Whether you are an experienced SENDCo or an ambitious teacher looking for a supported pathway into leadership, Beacon Academy offers a unique opportunity to shape inclusive practice across our school.
The Role
This is a vital position acting as a bridge between our "Harbour" learning support department and mainstream classrooms. You will drive the quality of inclusive practice school-wide while providing high-quality, specialist teaching for students with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Specialist Teaching: Plan and deliver a bespoke, adapted curriculum for small groups with complex needs, including Autism and SEMH.
Quality Assurance: Collaborate with Subject Leaders to "scaffold" the mainstream curriculum and conduct learning walks to monitor SEND adaptations.
Mentoring: Model "Quality First Teaching" for ECTs and experienced staff.
Leadership Development: Work alongside the Lead SENDCo to manage EHCPs and annual reviews.
Your Career Pathway
We are committed to your professional growth. If you do not already hold the mandatory SENDCo qualification, the school will fully fund and support your achievement of the award within the first three years of your appointment.
What we are looking for:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a track record of high-quality teaching.
Deep Knowledge: A strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and various learning needs such as ASD, ADHD, and Dyslexia.
Inclusive Vision: The ability to design evidence-based interventions and use specialist data to track "small steps" of progress.
Core Attributes: Empathy, resilience, and a collaborative "team player" approach.
Ready to Apply?
We encourage any applicant to visit the school or book an informal phone conversation with a member of the leadership team. Please feel free to contact the academy via email at hr@beaconacademy.co.uk to arrange a suitable time. If you're as excited by this challenge as we are and believe this might be the role for you, please review all attached documents before submitting your application.
