About This Role
Horbury Academy are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Teacher of Girls’ Physical Education to join our dedicated PE department. We are looking for a passionate practitioner who is committed to delivering outstanding teaching and learning experiences that motivate, challenge, and inspire pupils to achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to deliver engaging, well-structured, and high-quality lessons across all key stages, creating a stimulating learning environment in which all pupils are encouraged to thrive. They will be an excellent classroom practitioner with a strong understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies, using assessment confidently to monitor progress, inform planning, and secure strong outcomes for all learners.
The postholder will have high expectations of every pupil and the ability to adapt teaching effectively to meet the needs of learners with diverse abilities, backgrounds, and educational needs. They will be skilled in fostering positive relationships, maintaining high standards of behaviour, and creating an inclusive learning environment where pupils feel supported, challenged, and motivated to succeed.
The ideal candidate will also play a pivotal role in the continued success and development of the PE department, contributing to a broad and inclusive curriculum that promotes participation, enjoyment, achievement, and excellence. They will make a significant contribution to our extensive extra-curricular programme, leading clubs, fixtures, competitions, and enrichment opportunities that enhance pupils' experiences and foster a strong culture of sporting participation and success.
This position is temporary in the first instance to 31 August 2027.
About You
The successful candidate will be…
- A qualified teacher holding Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), with a relevant degree in Physical Education or a related field.
- Passionate about promoting physical activity and sporting achievement for all pupils.
- Experienced in delivering high-quality PE lessons across a range of key stages, with the ability to inspire and motivate learners of all abilities.
- Knowledgeable about the PE curriculum and assessment requirements, with the ability to plan engaging lessons, develop extracurricular sporting opportunities, and contribute to raising standards of teaching and learning across the department.
- An excellent communicator with strong organisational skills, and a commitment to fostering positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents/carers.
