About This Role

GEMS American Academy in Qatar is seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to become a part of our Elementary School team. The anticipated start date for this position is 01 August 2026.

Key Responsibilities include:

- Uphold and promote the standards of excellence reflected in the GEMS Core Values.
- Deliver the required curriculum, demonstrating thorough and current knowledge of the subject matter.
- Design and present high-quality lessons that engage and motivate students.
- Develop and utilize suitable materials and classroom settings that accommodate various learning styles.
- Provide written documentation of planning and preparation when requested.
- Maintain comprehensive records of curriculum and yearly plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment strategies, and more.
- Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
- Instruct assigned students according to their individual needs by employing suitable teaching strategies that address diverse abilities, including late entrants, ESL learners, and both low and high achievers.
- Assign and evaluate student work.
- Assess, record, and report on students' academic progress and development, utilizing assessments to tailor the curriculum to individual needs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of media and technology within the classroom.
- Foster the overall progress and well-being of students while providing guidance on educational matters.
- Communicate with external stakeholders when necessary, such as officials from the Ministry of Education.
- Engage in appraisal and Performance Management processes as well as Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Collaborate with colleagues to prepare and develop educational materials, resources, courses of study, and pastoral arrangements.
- Participate in, and lead when appropriate, co-curricular and extra-curricular programs within the school.
- Cultivate positive working relationships through effective leadership and the sharing of ideas, materials, and experiences.
- Monitor and supervise safe and appropriate behavior among students.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote self-discipline and manage disruptive behavior.
- Exemplify and encourage cultural awareness and understanding, while fostering a love for learning.
- Assist in the organization and planning of school events and activities such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and prize days.
- Regularly communicate with parents to promote the GEMS philosophy and core values, keeping them informed about their children’s progress while maintaining confidentiality of student information.
- Exhibit initiative and commitment beyond standard work hours when tasks require extra effort.
- Attend staff meetings and participate on committees as needed.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by direct and indirect reporting line managers or supervisors.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
*Estimated range based on regional data averages.
