Job Specification:

Teaching and Learning


Demonstrate expertise, enthusiasm, and creativity in applying age-appropriate teaching methods.


Plan and deliver the approved curriculum accurately.


Create lesson plans and units of study with specific learning objectives.


Clearly convey learning objectives to students in a logical and age-appropriate manner.


Address the diverse learning needs of all students, including those who enter late, language learners, and those with varying academic abilities.


Regularly assess daily and weekly plans to ensure they build on students' current and prior achievements.


Seek opportunities for hands-on experiences within the curriculum and utilize a variety of instructional materials rather than relying solely on textbooks.


Track and monitor each child's progress, ensuring all assessments, grading, and class records are up to date.


Return assignments promptly with constructive feedback, emphasizing strengths and areas for improvement.


Utilize assessments effectively to set realistic and challenging improvement goals and inform future instruction.


Employ questioning and explanation strategies to enhance student progress.


Maintain high expectations for student behavior and attitudes toward learning.


Reflect on personal and peer practices through discussions and observations to enhance understanding of effective teaching methods.


Demonstrate proficiency and confidence in using media and technology.


Recognize the importance of after-school programs and extracurricular activities, actively participating as directed.


Fulfill any professional responsibilities assigned by senior management, especially during emergencies, recognizing that these situations may arise in an international context with limited resources and staffing.

Pastoral


Promote a consistent approach to implementing the School Guiding Statements.


Adhere to the professional duty of care by following school policies and procedures regarding student behavior and discipline consistently—during classes, assigned duties, break times, and all interactions with IAA students—understanding that student safety is the utmost priority.


Practice vigilant safeguarding and duty of care for students.


Develop and apply strategies that foster student self-discipline, encourage appropriate behavior, and manage disruptive conduct.


Celebrate students’ achievements both within the school and beyond.


Listen attentively when addressing students, ensuring that any concerns they raise are managed professionally and swiftly.


Take on the role of tutor/class teacher as needed, delivering the relevant curricula (e.g., PSHE).

Professional Development


Engage in the school’s self-evaluation processes, providing constructive feedback as needed.


Actively participate in the school’s Staff Development Network through various activities, including action research, in-service training, lesson observations, professional writing, and curriculum development.


Fully engage in staff initiatives and meetings.


Build strong working relationships with colleagues through proactive leadership and sharing of ideas, resources, and expertise.


Reflect on personal practices and remain open to professional feedback from colleagues.


Stay informed about advancements in pedagogy.

Learning Environment


Establish a safe, stimulating, and inviting learning environment, regularly updating displays to highlight students’ learning and achievements.

Manage and ensure the effective use of learning resources and equipment, making sure they are returned on time.

Qualifications and Skills:

Required:


Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.


Proficiency in assessing speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders.


Ability to utilize formal and informal assessment tools to identify speech and communication challenges in students.


Expertise in developing and implementing individualized therapy plans aligned with students’ educational goals.


Experience with evidence-based practices for addressing articulation, language development, social communication, and fluency disorders.


Strong collaboration skills to work effectively within a team of teachers, parents, and other specialists.


Effective communication skills for instructing and guiding teachers and staff on strategies to support students in the classroom.


Understanding of the impact of communication disorders on academic success and social interactions.


Ability to connect with students and families from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.


Capability to teach foundational Literacy and Numeracy concepts to Primary LS students using various modalities.


Certification in teaching from a recognized institution and/or Board.


Police clearance for working with children and in educational settings.


Strong communication abilities in the language(s) of instruction.


Good interpersonal skills for engaging with students, parents, and staff.


Ability to supervise students in non-classroom settings.


Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Preferred:


Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology.


Registration or certification to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist.


Training in school-based speech-language therapy.


Experience in an internationally accredited school or a national/state school in an English-speaking country.


Experience and certification in teaching school programs.


Strong communication skills in English (if it is not the language of instruction).

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
