Head of Science

Cambridge International School (CIS) located in Bratislava, Slovakia, is looking to hire a dedicated and skilled Head of Science. We are in search of an exceptional educator and subject specialist who is enthusiastic about the opportunity to further enhance the success of our department and has a clear vision for its future growth. Our current Science department comprises four Science teachers and a full-time Laboratory Technician. This position is set for the 2025/26 academic year, with a start date of 18th August 2025.

Purpose of the role

We are on the lookout for a qualified and experienced teacher who will contribute to the strategic advancement of the School as part of our Secondary School team. The Head of Secondary Science will bear the overall responsibility for leading and managing the department professionally to guarantee high standards of teaching and learning, efficient and effective resource utilization, and curriculum management and development in line with school policy.

Main responsibilities

• Overseeing subject curriculum management
• Leading the team
• Coordinating work within relevant subjects
• Conducting subject-specific assessments
• Ensuring proper resourcing of the subject area

Candidates should have the capability and experience to teach general science up to IGCSE and either Biology or Chemistry at A-level.

DESIRED CANDIDATE

We are seeking a UK or similarly qualified graduate in at least one of the Science subjects or a closely related field, along with a recognized teaching qualification in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, and experience teaching this subject at A-level and IGCSE. Applicants from outside the EU must possess a Master's degree to qualify for employment in Slovakia. For further eligibility details, please refer to the attached letter and appendix.
