About This Role

Northfleet School for Girls is a vibrant and caring school with a great community feel. Over recent years we have been growing rapidly and we believe this is down to the following key areas:

  • A real passion to develop the whole student as well as achieve excellent academic progress
  • A dedicated staffing team who really care and a clear commitment by leaders to staff wellbeing
  • Great student behaviour and engagement, allowing staff and students to flourish

We are seeking to appoint a Duty Manager to support our duty management system and work closely with Pastoral staff in the effective management of individual behaviour concerns in class and around the school. You will work closely with students and families in addressing a range of day-to-day behaviours.

This is a permanent post for 36.5 hours per week (5 days) and 39 weeks per year (term time only). The working pattern is 08:30 - 16:30 Monday to Thursday and 08:30 - 15:30 Friday.

The successful candidate will ideally have proven experience in a similar role in schools or wider roles working with young people. We are looking for someone with strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills, excellent communication skills, emotional resilience and the ability to build positive relationships. Previous experience supporting young people with behavioural, social, emotional or additional needs would be an advantage.

Why work at our school?

  • A positive and supportive culture amongst the staff team including an active staff wellbeing group and approachable leadership team
  • A dedication to career development through internal and externally recognised training programmes.
  • A school with excellent facilities and continued future developments
  • A highly generous approach to staff absence for personal reasons such as family events or those special treat occasions
  • Excellent IT facilities including interactive display screens in all classrooms, 1 to 1 laptop scheme and touchscreen staff laptops for all
  • Staff children receive higher priority for places (both Year 7 entry and in year waiting lists)

Please visit our website and see the attached documents for further information on the school and the role.

We welcome any candidate who may wish to visit for an informal tour or conversation in advance of applying. If you would like to take up this opportunity, please contact Mrs Annable to arrange.

Northfleet Schools for Girls is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The appointment is subject to satisfactory references, medical clearance and an enhanced DBS check. For any candidate who is shortlisted, an online search will be conducted in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026 statutory guidance.
