Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate recognized by or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated candidates who lack a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials assessed through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
It is not expected for candidates to fulfill all qualifications; relevant experience and a dedication to community-centered education will be highly regarded.
Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written)
- Experience in facilitating Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit-based education
- Background in teaching in a bilingual or ESL environment
- Familiarity with teaching in cross-cultural or northern Canadian contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy enhancement
- Knowledge or experience in utilizing contemporary assessment techniques to inform learning
- Experience in cultivating a positive learning atmosphere through effective classroom management methods (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Proven experience in establishing respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Background in promoting student wellbeing and engagement
- Experience in engaging with students beyond the classroom setting, as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and student support
- Ability to work harmoniously as part of a school team
- Experience in learning from and contributing to a shared, community-focused environment

Compensation and benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (commensurate with experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Igloolik, Nunavut: $22,579
- Subsidized Housing: NOT available

Conditions of Employment
- Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut are required to provide a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
