Behaviour Support Mentor

Sir Thomas Fremantle School is looking to recruit two Behaviour Support Mentors to join our pastoral team and help our students achieve their very best.

We know that, for some young people, managing behaviour and the demands of school life can be challenging. We are looking for skilled, compassionate professionals who can see beyond the behaviour, build positive relationships and help students develop the strategies they need to be the very best they can be.

This is a role where you can make a real difference - helping young people feel that they belong, that they can achieve and that their behaviour does not have to define them.

It requires:

• Communication - you will have very clear expectations and know how to approach students experiencing a range of feelings.
• Consistency - you will provide clarity and consistency so everyone knows the expectations in the Hub.
• Empathy - you will have a heart for young people and use your skills to understand the child behind the behaviour.
• Resilience - you will develop both your own and students’ resilience.
• Support - you won’t be alone. There is a team to support you and help you develop the provision under our Assistant Headteacher.

Your work will be a mixture of 1:1 support and supporting the Behaviour Hub with reflection, pre-planned sanctions and class removals.

We have different areas for students depending on their needs:

• Butterfly Room - academic interventions and support for students with special educational needs.
• Phoenix Suite - SEMH support for students struggling with their resilience and emotional wellbeing.
• The Hub - a space for students to reflect on their behaviour through pre-planned sanctions, as well as a responsive space for students removed from classes.

You will be supported by the pastoral team, with opportunities for you to grow and develop your practice.

Sir Thomas Fremantle School is an 11-16 secondary school serving the local community in North Buckinghamshire, within easy reach of Milton Keynes and Aylesbury.
