About the Role:
GEMS Al Barsha National School is on the lookout for a seasoned Assistant Principal to join the Secondary leadership team for this academic year, with a start date that can be negotiated.
In the role of Secondary Assistant Principal, you will uphold the school's vision, core values, mission, aims, and policies. Your responsibilities will include supporting and enhancing effective leadership and management within the school, while ensuring exemplary standards in teaching, learning, curriculum, student achievement, and pastoral care within the secondary team.
The Assistant Principal will:
- Actively participate in strategic planning and self-review processes for the school.
- Oversee the leadership, development, and management of teaching and learning, curriculum design, target-setting, assessment, tracking, recording, and reporting within the secondary team.
- Take a proactive role in curriculum development in collaboration with senior and middle leaders, as well as all teaching staff.
- Collaborate with senior leadership team members on target-setting, assessment, and data tracking within the secondary team.
- Be accountable for the attainment standards, progress, achievement, and behavior within the secondary team, monitoring and evaluating progress in these areas and determining necessary actions for improvement.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of the KHDA/DSIB UAE Inspection Framework and Supplement, UAE Vision 2021, and National Agenda, applying this knowledge to support leadership and management in the secondary team.
Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree and Qualified Teacher Status.
- Leadership qualification or currently enrolled in a leadership development program.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading change and fostering innovation.
- Commitment to upholding and promoting the school’s vision, values, and ethos.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Proven track record of innovation resulting in improved standards and enhanced motivation for both students and staff.
- Understanding of competency-led curriculum frameworks.
- Knowledge of high-quality educational provision and strategies to secure it within the school.
- Evidence of successfully meeting targets.
- Possess the drive, enthusiasm, determination, and energy necessary to enhance the life chances and experiences of students.
- Foster high expectations, enthusiasm, and commitment among staff.
- Lead initiatives related to careers and future skills education across the school.
- Facilitate Parent Partnerships and Communication.
- Manage Heads of Department through line management.
