About This Role

St George Madrid is a well-established educational institution situated in a prime area to the north of the city. It is part of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), a network of over 100 schools across 21 countries dedicated to nurturing internationally-minded students through exemplary practices. The school boasts a spacious campus with numerous new and developing facilities and has experienced substantial growth in recent years, with further potential ahead.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced educator to join our team, specifically for teaching English Language and Literature at the secondary level, up to the conclusion of Key Stage 5 (Year 13). Our curriculum follows the English National Curriculum at Key Stage 3, transitions to IGCSE at Key Stage 4, and culminates with the IB Diploma programme in our Sixth Form (Key Stage 5). Familiarity with teaching across this spectrum is highly desirable. In our IGCSE programme, we offer both English Language and Literature, while the IB Diploma includes English A: Language and Literature at HL/SL and English B at HL/SL. The ideal candidate should be prepared to teach across these various courses. Training will be available for educators wishing to enhance their skills to teach the IB Diploma, provided they possess the necessary subject knowledge.

As a member of the secondary team, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing the English programme alongside our English department. There may be an opportunity for a middle leadership position for the right individual. Being an international school, we expect our staff to actively engage in the life of the school, contributing to after-school programmes and various events throughout the year. A commitment to holistic education, high standards of pastoral care, and an inclusive educational approach will be critical as we finalize our selection. We take pride in the value we add to our students, regardless of their backgrounds, and it is essential that each child achieves success. Given our diverse student population with varying needs, a strong interest in raising attainment across all ability levels is vital. Candidates must also provide evidence of being effective team players and demonstrate adaptability in new situations, along with a flexible approach to problem-solving. If you are dedicated to child-centered education and have a sincere desire to help each child realize their potential while contributing to the future growth of an international school, we would be eager to hear from you. For more information about our school, please visit our website https://stgeorgeinternational.es/madrid/

Initial interviews will occur virtually on a rolling basis, with in-person meetings for shortlisted candidates conducted in Madrid or London whenever feasible. The application deadline is Friday, 10th April 2026, as we aim to recruit for a September 2026 start, or sooner if we find the ideal candidate. Please ensure to upload a recent CV as a supporting document with your application. We reserve the right to appoint the right candidate before the closing date.

Our school is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students in our care, and we expect all applicants to share this commitment. We adhere to safe recruitment practices, and any appointments are contingent upon an interview, satisfactory references, and criminal record checks.
