About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and committed Teacher of Humanities to join our secondary school team. The ideal candidate will encourage students to delve into history, geography, and social studies through critical inquiry, evidence-based discussions, and interdisciplinary connections. Key Responsibilities
Planning, Teaching, and Class Management
•
Design and deliver captivating Humanities lessons that foster progression and deep comprehension.
•
Establish clear teaching goals and employ various instructional strategies to cater to all learners.
•
Maintain an engaging atmosphere, motivation, and discipline in accordance with school policies.
•
Utilize effective questioning and assessment techniques to clarify misunderstandings and enhance learning.
•
Choose and modify educational resources, including digital tools, to boost student engagement.
Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, and Reporting
•
Regularly evaluate student progress and leverage data to guide planning and goal setting.
•
Assess and review student work, offering constructive feedback to encourage improvement.
•
Compile reports for parents and take part in parent-teacher conferences.
•
Assist in meeting department and examination board assessment standards.
Curriculum Development
•
Play a role in the continuous enhancement of the Humanities curriculum.
•
Aid in the incorporation of interdisciplinary projects and inquiry-based learning initiatives.
•
Ensure that curriculum coverage is in line with school objectives and international benchmarks.
Pastoral Duties
•
Act as a Form Tutor, aiding the academic and personal growth of a designated group of students.
•
Encourage student wellbeing, attendance, and involvement in school activities.
•
Coordinate with pastoral leaders and parents to address individual student needs.
Other Professional Requirements
•
Participate in professional development and reflective practices.
•
Collaborate with colleagues to exchange resources and best practices.
•
Engage in school events such as Open Days, Parent Evenings, and promotional activities.
•
Adhere to the school’s policies and maintain professional standards consistently.
Requirements
Education & Qualifications
•
Bachelor’s degree or higher in History, Geography, Social Sciences, or a related Humanities discipline (Master’s preferred).
•
Valid teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or an equivalent international qualification).
Experience
•
At least 3 years of teaching experience in Humanities within an international or bilingual school environment.
•
Experience with IGCSE and A-Level History/Geography is strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies
•
Expertise in at least one Humanities discipline with substantial curriculum knowledge.
•
Capability to create interdisciplinary and inquiry-based learning experiences.
•
Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to assist students in research and argumentation.
•
Proficient in utilizing educational technology and digital resources to enhance teaching and learning.
•
Experience in organizing academic debates, Model United Nations (MUN), or field studies is a plus.
•
Culturally aware and globally minded, with the capacity to teach diverse perspectives.
