Job Summary

The Preschool Principal is responsible for managing the daily functions of the school, ensuring that each student experiences a safe and nurturing learning environment.

This position involves providing leadership across all aspects of teaching and learning while promoting the ongoing growth of the school in alignment with the Board's established priorities.

The Preschool Principal will play a vital role in fostering a positive school culture, supporting staff development, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality early childhood education.

Primary Responsibilities

• Educational Leadership:
  • Collaborate with educators and staff to create and implement the curriculum.
  • Foster an environment that promotes academic success and monitor student progress.
  • Guarantee curriculum alignment with Lower Primary to facilitate a smooth transition for students.
  • Evaluate teaching strategies and classroom activities.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for teachers and staff.
  • Encourage innovative and effective teaching methodologies.
  • Develop a detailed school timetable that meets the needs of all Preschool students within legal frameworks and available resources (from playgroup through kindergarten).
  • Promote and adhere to relevant school policies related to teaching, learning, and daily operations.
• Student Support:
  • Create a secure and inclusive learning environment for every student.
  • Address and manage behavioral challenges among students.
  • Engage with parents and guardians to support student development.
  • Collaborate with parents to build a foundation of trust, support, and strong partnership between home and school.
• Staff Supervision:
  • Support the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes for staff.
  • Mentor and assist teachers in their professional growth.
  • Organize staff meetings and professional development workshops.
  • Actively engage in the appraisal process, providing constructive feedback on teaching performance and development.
  • Step in to substitute or supervise during teacher absences or emergencies.
• Community Engagement:
  • Act as a liaison between the school and the surrounding community.
  • Work with parents to cultivate a trusting and supportive partnership between home and school.
  • Advocate for the school’s mission and values among parents and community members.
  • Collaborate with the team to coordinate and participate in school events and activities.
  • Establish partnerships with local organizations and businesses.
  • Contribute to transforming the school into a community learning center, enhancing connections with other schools, agencies, and service providers.
• Operational Management:
  • Assist with the enrollment process for new students, including reviewing applications, screening candidates, and conducting interviews.
  • Support the development and oversight of the school budget for the academic department.
  • Contribute to marketing strategies and student retention efforts in Preschool, ensuring alignment with targets set by the Executive Management Board.
  • Oversee the provision and effective management of school resources.
  • Participate in the key management team to coordinate emergency response strategies and safety drills.
  • Support all relevant school policies regarding teaching, learning, and daily operations.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure the upkeep and improvement of school facilities.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Line Manager.
