The Position

ADNOC Schools is on the lookout for exceptional Nursery Assistants. This opening is situated at ADNOC School, Ruwais Campus in the Western Region (Al Dhafra) of Abu Dhabi, with a start date in January 2025.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Nursery Team to provide high-quality care, child development, and learning experiences for nursery children in a nurturing, safe, and welcoming environment.

• Contribute to the nursery's commitment to the highest standards of physical and emotional care, health and safety, and personal and food hygiene at all times.

• Adhere to all regulatory requirements, including the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

• Report to the Room Leader while closely working alongside the Nursery Teacher.

• Be accountable to the Principal and Vice Principal.

• Build and maintain positive relationships with children, colleagues, and parents or guardians.

• Assist in creating a stimulating, engaging, and interactive learning environment for all children.

• Support the daily program of purposeful play activities tailored to the children’s needs and developmental stages, fostering and promoting each child's learning.

• Monitor and guide children’s progress, providing feedback to the Room Leader regarding student development, and assess and observe when necessary.

• Ensure all activities are conducted safely and communicate any concerns about children, equipment, etc., to the Room Leader.

• Proactively support classroom routines to ensure children receive continuous assistance.

• Help meet the children's care needs, including feeding, sleeping, and diaper changes.

• Engage creatively with the children in the nursery under the guidance of the Room Leader.

• Foster positive interactions with children by offering stimulating activities that cater to their interests and developmental needs.

• Adhere to effective working practices, including safeguarding, and comply with all school policies and procedures.

• Support children’s weaning and eating requirements by encouraging them to eat and drink as needed. Report on their daily eating and toileting habits to the Room Leader and/or Nursery Teacher.

• Ensure effective supervision during mealtimes and that all dietary needs are met for children in your room.

• Maintain a safe and secure learning environment by ensuring gates are locked, addressing spills, monitoring the condition of toys and equipment, and reporting any issues to the Room Leader.

• Always promote and maintain a clean and safe environment both indoors and outdoors.

• Follow the School’s Health and Safety Policy to ensure a secure environment for children, parents, guardians, the nursery team, and visitors.

• Be sensitive to the needs of all children.

• Encourage positive values, attitudes, and behavior among children.

• Foster positive professional relationships with the nursery team.

• Work collaboratively as part of the entire Nursery Team and take on additional responsibilities as needed.

• Be flexible to work in any area of the nursery, overseeing the care and supervision of children to ensure smooth operations.

• Perform playtime and lunchtime duties, including assisting children with outdoor clothing.

• Help set up and tidy daily activities and resources, including domestic tasks such as preparing snacks, cleaning equipment, and handling laundry.

• Supervise individuals and small groups as directed.

• Complete basic administrative tasks.

• Continuously assess professional performance and stay current with EYFS standards and best practices.

• Actively engage in the performance review process and participate in professional development opportunities.

• Attend meetings and in-service training as required.

• Maintain confidentiality within the nursery.

• The post holder is responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people. Adherence to the School’s Child Protection Policy Statement is mandatory. Any concerns regarding the safety or welfare of children must be reported to one of the School’s Designated Safeguarding Leads or to the Principal.

• Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Principal or Vice Principal as appropriate.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field along with a PGCE or other teaching qualification.

• A minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Nursery or Teacher Assistant.

• Prior experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.

• A passion for teaching and a commitment to holistic child education.

• A high level of professionalism and dedication to the well-being of children.

• Recent and consistent participation in extracurricular activities.

• Respect for all members of the school community, regardless of position, gender, age, or ethnic background.

• A positive, solution-oriented attitude towards work.

• A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check.
