The Position
ADNOC Schools is on the lookout for an exceptional Nursery Assistant. This role is available at ADNOC School, Ruwais Campus, situated in the Western Region (Al Dhafra) of Abu Dhabi, with a start date of January 2025.

Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Nursery Team to ensure high standards of care, child development, and learning for nursery children in a nurturing, safe, and welcoming environment.
• Contribute to maintaining the Nursery’s high standards of physical and emotional care, health and safety, and personal and food hygiene at all times.
• Adhere to all regulatory requirements, including the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Report to the Room Leader and work closely with the Nursery Teacher.
• Be accountable to the Principal and Vice Principal.
• Foster positive relationships with children, colleagues, and parents or guardians.
• Assist in creating a stimulating, engaging, and interactive learning environment for all children.
• Aid in implementing the daily schedule of purposeful play activities tailored to the children’s needs and developmental stages, supporting and enhancing each child’s learning.
• Monitor and guide children’s progress, providing feedback to the Room Leader regarding pupil progress, and conducting assessments and observations as needed.
• Ensure that activities are conducted safely and report any concerns regarding children, equipment, etc., to the Room Leader.
• Actively support classroom routines to ensure children receive continuous support.
• Assist in meeting the care requirements of children, such as feeding, napping, and diaper changes.
• Engage creatively with children in the Nursery, following the directions of the Room Leader.
• Encourage positive interactions with children by facilitating stimulating activities that cater to their interests and developmental needs.
• Adhere to effective working practices, including safeguarding, and comply with all School policies and procedures.
• Support children’s weaning and eating needs, encouraging them to eat and drink as necessary, and report daily eating and toileting habits to the Room Leader and/or Nursery Teacher.
• Ensure supervision during mealtimes and that all dietary needs are met for children in your care.
• Maintain a safe and secure learning environment, such as locking gates, addressing spills, and monitoring the condition of toys and equipment, reporting any concerns to the Room Leader.
• Ensure a clean and safe environment at all times, both indoors and outdoors.
• Follow the School’s Health and Safety Policy to provide a safe environment for children, their parents, the nursery team, and visitors.
• Be sensitive to the needs of all children.
• Promote positive values, attitudes, and good behavior among children.
• Foster positive professional relationships within the Nursery team.
• Work collaboratively as part of the entire Nursery Team and take on additional responsibilities when needed.
• Be available to assist in any area of the Nursery, providing care and supervision for children and ensuring smooth operations.
• Fulfill playtime and lunchtime duties, including helping children with their outdoor clothing.
• Assist in preparing and tidying up daily activities and resources, including domestic tasks such as snack preparation, cleaning of equipment, and laundry.
• Supervise individuals and small groups as directed.
• Complete simple administrative tasks.
• Continuously evaluate professional performance, stay updated on EYFS requirements and best practices.
• Actively participate in the performance review process and engage in professional development opportunities.
• Attend meetings and INSET as required.
• Maintain confidentiality within the nursery.
• The post holder is responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons under their care or with whom they come into contact, ensuring compliance with the School’s Child Protection Policy at all times. Any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the school must be reported to one of the School’s Designated Safeguarding Leads or to the principal.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Principal or Vice Principal as appropriate.
Requirements:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject with a PGCE or other teaching qualification.
• A minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Nursery or Teacher Assistant.
• Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
• A passion for teaching and a commitment to holistic child education.
• A high degree of professionalism and consideration for the well-being of children.
• Recent and consistent participation in extracurricular activities.
• Respect for all members of the school community, regardless of their position, gender, age, or ethnic background.
• A positive and solution-oriented approach to work.
• A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check.
