About This Role

The British Embassy School Ankara is an award-winning British International School situated within the grounds of the British Embassy in Ankara, Turkey. The school follows both the English National Curriculum & Cambridge GCSE curriculum from Nursery to Year 10. In September 2024 we opened our first GCSE cohort and will expand to Year 11 next academic year.

The school was established in 1959 and is delightfully situated in modern buildings set in a rolling landscape of playgrounds and woodland in the heart of Turkey’s capital city.

BESA is a member of the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS), the British Schools of the Middle East (BSME), a founding member of the Black Sea Schools Group and an accredited member of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS).

BESA is currently seeking outstanding Middle Years / Key Stage 3 Teacher to join our team from September 2025. We are looking for a teacher with a specialist subject but who also has the ability to teach a range of other subjects at the Key Stage 3 level. This position is a full-time role and is initially contracted until the end of August 2027.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be a fully qualified teacher (Bachelor of Education or PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status)
  • Be an experienced KS3 teacher with at least 2 years experience working in a UK or British International School.
  • Be experienced in delivery of the English National Curriculum Programmes of Study
  • Have excellent planning, organisation and communication skills
  • Be able to work as part of a team
  • Be confident in the use of technology to enhance children’s learning
  • Be able to lead their curriculum subject within the school and be a model of good practice
  • Be committed to regular and ongoing professional development
  • Be a fluent English speaker
