About This Role

The school seeks to hire a qualified and enthusiastic Classroom Teacher for Lower Key Stage 2 (Year 3/4) for the upcoming intake in August 2025.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Take charge of teaching all subjects except those assigned to specialist teachers, following the school’s policies and schemes of work.
  • Ensure that medium-term and short-term planning aligns with school policy.
  • Keep the parent portal updated and include helpful links for parents.
  • Collaborate closely with parallel teachers on termly and weekly planning, as well as with other staff to ensure continuity and progression.
  • Cater to the diverse abilities of students by planning differentiated activities.
  • Conduct monitoring, recording, assessment, and reporting in accordance with school policies.
  • Provide timely and appropriate feedback on students' work in line with the marking policy.
  • Deliver P.E. lessons (excluding swimming) when the specialist PE teacher is unavailable.
  • Collaborate with the music teacher to rehearse and direct students for concerts and services.
  • Oversee the pastoral care of students in the class, promoting positive relationships among children and between children and the teacher.
  • Maintain discipline and behavior in accordance with the school’s behavior policy.
  • Supervise children during lunch daily and monitor their behavior (refer to the staff handbook for procedures).
  • Work closely with the Head Master and other staff regarding any students of concern.
  • Create a stimulating and engaging learning environment in the classroom, ensuring displays are regularly updated and reflect normal classroom activities.
  • Organize classroom resources, ensuring accessibility for students as appropriate.
  • Ensure a variety of suitable reading materials are available in the classroom.
  • Regularly check home/school reading diaries, providing comments to maintain good communication.
  • Keep all records current and accurate (including registers, profiles, health matters, etc.).
  • Meet with parents as necessary and build strong professional relationships and communication with them.
  • Actively promote the school by engaging with prospective parents who visit the classroom, attending open evenings, and serving as ambassadors for the school.
  • Participate in parents' evenings and school events as required.
  • Ensure the care, security, and maintenance of resources and equipment across the school.
  • Perform all duties and follow procedures outlined in the staff handbook.
  • Organize a termly class assembly and lead whole-school assemblies on occasion.
  • Attend Parent Association events and other evening/weekend functions.
  • Participate in staff and curriculum meetings, including occasional whole-school gatherings.
  • Engage in the appraisal process.
  • Be willing to attend InSETs (sometimes in the evenings) and pursue continuous professional development.
  • Lead an after-school activity club.
  • Serve as a positive role model in terms of speech, appearance, behavior, and care of equipment.
  • Additional experience in one or more specialist areas will be advantageous (please see ‘Further Details’ below).
