Key Stage 2 Classroom Teacher (August 2025)
About This Role
The school is seeking to recruit a highly qualified and enthusiastic Classroom Teacher for Key Stage 2, starting in August 2025.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Take charge of teaching all subjects except those delivered by specialist instructors, adhering to school policies and curriculums.
- Ensure that both medium-term and short-term planning align with school guidelines.
- Regularly update the parent portal with valuable resources for parents.
- Collaborate with parallel teachers on termly and weekly planning, as well as coordinate with other staff members to ensure continuity and progression.
- Plan differentiated activities to accommodate the diverse abilities of students.
- Conduct monitoring, recording, assessment, and reporting in compliance with school policies.
- Assess student work in a timely manner, following the marking policy and providing individual feedback and encouragement whenever possible.
- Lead P.E. lessons (excluding swimming) when the specialist P.E. teacher is unavailable.
- Work with the music teacher to rehearse and direct students for concerts and services.
- Oversee the pastoral care of students in the class, fostering positive relationships among the children and between the children and the teacher.
- Manage behavior and discipline within the class according to the school’s behavior policy.
- Supervise children during lunch daily and monitor lunchtime behavior (refer to the staff handbook for procedures).
- Maintain close communication with the Head Master and other staff regarding any students of concern.
- Create an engaging and interesting classroom environment with displays that are regularly updated and relevant to current work.
- Organize all classroom resources, ensuring they are easily accessible to students as needed.
- Provide a variety of suitable reading materials in the classroom.
- Read and comment on home/school reading diaries daily to ensure effective communication.
- Keep all paperwork updated and accurate (including registers, profiles, health matters, etc.).
- Meet with parents as necessary and maintain professional relationships and communication with them.
- Actively promote the school by engaging with prospective parents visiting the classroom, attending open evenings, and serving as ambassadors for the school.
- Participate in parents' evenings and other school events as required.
- Take responsibility for the care, security, and maintenance of resources and equipment throughout the school.
- Follow all duties and procedures as outlined in the staff handbook.
- Organize a termly class assembly and occasionally lead whole-school assemblies.
- Attend Parent Association events and other evening/weekend activities.
- Participate in staff and curriculum meetings, including occasional whole-school meetings.
- Engage in the appraisal process.
- Be willing to attend InSETs (occasionally in the evenings) and pursue continuous professional development.
- Lead an after-school activity club.
- Serve as a positive role model in terms of speech, attire, behavior, and care for equipment.
- Additional experience in one or more specialist areas will be beneficial (please see ‘Further Details’ below).
