About This Role
Aldar Education is actively looking for a Head of STEM to join our expanding family of schools in the UAE. This senior position, based at ADNOC Schools, will collaborate with all four of our campuses. ADNOC Schools follow the Massachusetts State Curriculum and offer high-quality educational environments in Abu Dhabi City and the Western Region of the Abu Dhabi Emirate. The role is set to commence in January 2025.
Ideal candidates will possess a strong background in effective leadership, gained in the UK, USA, or other international contexts, alongside excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity. The ability to address the diverse needs of various stakeholders, including board members, parents, teachers, and principals, is essential. Outstanding communication skills and the capability to act as a visible leader and ambassador for the school are crucial to this role.
This position requires strategic thinking and a thorough understanding of how to achieve exceptional educational outcomes across the school. Candidates must be dedicated to fostering partnerships with other schools within the organization and finding innovative ways to engage with strategic partners to advance the school’s mission, the group's objectives, and the broader educational vision of the UAE.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum Development
- The Head of STEM will be responsible for designing and developing a comprehensive STEM curriculum that aligns with educational standards and best practices. This includes creating cross-disciplinary approaches that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity among students. By keeping abreast of advancements in STEM education, the Head of STEM will ensure the curriculum incorporates relevant technologies and methodologies, adequately preparing students for the fast-evolving fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Instructional Leadership:
- The Head of STEM will provide guidance and support to teachers in executing effective STEM teaching strategies and will conduct regular observations, evaluations, and professional development sessions aimed at enhancing teaching quality. They will foster a collaborative and innovative teaching atmosphere that inspires both students and educators.
- Oversee all STEM-related programs, activities, and events within the school.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of STEM concepts throughout the curriculum.
- Develop assessment tools and benchmarks, including improved MAP and EmSAT/AP scores, to evaluate student achievement and progress in STEM subjects.
- Analyze data and utilize assessment results to drive continuous enhancement of STEM programs.
- Ensure all students have equitable access and opportunities to excel in STEM disciplines.
Partnerships and Outreach
- Establish and maintain partnerships with external organizations, universities, and industry professionals to enrich STEM education.
- Organize STEM-related workshops, guest lectures, and career exploration opportunities for students.
- Assist students in obtaining STEM scholarships.
- Engage parents, alumni, and the wider community to support STEM initiatives and raise awareness.
- Manage resources, budget allocations, and procurement of materials and equipment for STEM initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field (Master's degree preferred) along with a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Master’s degree in Education.
- Leadership/Management experience.
- Administrative/Leadership certification.
- Proven experience managing College Board Programming.
Minimum Experience
- A minimum of 6 years’ experience, including 4 consecutive years of teaching, with performance exceeding standards and expectations as demonstrated by Performance Appraisal.
Job Specific Knowledge & Skills
- Teaching certification and significant experience in STEM education.
- Leadership experience within a school or educational context.
