Located in the beautiful hamlet of Clyde River, Nunavut, Quluaq School serves the local community with approximately 360 students across K-12 grades and a dedicated staff of 41. The school and its community are rich in Inuit cultural heritage.

Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education degree
- Valid teaching certificate recognized by or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways to Teach Canada)

Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in a formal or informal school leadership role (e.g., Vice-Principal, department head, instructional coach, or teacher-leader)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a classroom teacher

- Proven commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive school climate that supports the well-being of students and staff.
- Ability to assist in instructional leadership alongside the Principal, concentrating on literacy development and inclusive instructional strategies.
- Experience contributing to instructional enhancement through coaching, professional learning communities (PLCs), and utilizing student achievement data to promote student success.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining positive, respectful relationships with students, staff, families, and community members, particularly in northern and cross-cultural contexts.

Assets and Preferred Experience
Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written).
- Experience in supporting education based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit.
- Background in facilitating bilingual and ESL programming.

Instructional Leadership
- Graduate-level education training.
- Demonstrated experience in promoting positive school-wide behavior and learning environments (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behaviour Supports).

School Operations & Systems
- Experience aiding in the implementation of operational directives and departmental requirements, including collaboration with the District Education Authority (DEA) and Regional School Operations (RSO).
- Experience in supporting site-based school operations, including scheduling, supervision, student support processes, or contributing to school improvement planning.
- Familiarity with school-based budgeting or resource management, supporting fiscally responsible decision-making under the Principal's guidance.

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range (Certified Vice-Principal): from $108,201 prorated/annum to $157,970 prorated/annum.
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Clyde River, Nunavut: $22,978 prorated/annum.
- Subsidized Housing: Available, though sharing may be required.

Conditions of Employment
- Applicants currently working for the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut must submit a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
- Principals and Vice Principals must obtain a Certificate of Eligibility as a Nunavut Principal within three years of employment.
