About This Role

Byron College is on the lookout for a dedicated and experienced Head of Key Stage 2, with the potential to advance into the role of Assistant Head of Primary. This is an exciting chance for a seasoned Key Stage leader who has a proven track record of making a significant impact and is eager to participate in broader Primary leadership and the overall development of the school.

The chosen candidate will oversee Key Stage 2, collaborating closely with the Head of Primary, Senior Leadership Team, and Middle Leaders to enhance teaching and learning, ensure curriculum alignment, and build leadership capacity. A vital component of this position involves fostering student development not only academically but also through the promotion of competencies and values that support their personal growth, well-being, and preparedness for future educational endeavors.

About the Position
As Head of Key Stage 2 / Assistant Head of Primary, your responsibilities will include:


Providing professional leadership and guidance for implementing the British National Curriculum in Key Stage 2.


Leading, supporting, and developing the Key Stage 2 teaching team to guarantee consistent, high-quality teaching and learning.


Assisting with curriculum planning, assessment, and monitoring to elevate academic standards and ensure student progression.


Playing a crucial role in cultivating and integrating student competencies within the curriculum, aiding in their broader personal, social, and emotional development.


Fostering inclusive practices and robust pastoral support across Years 3–6.


Contributing to whole-school improvement planning, self-evaluation, and strategic initiatives.


Establishing positive and professional relationships with students, parents, and staff.


Acting in place of the Head of Primary when necessary, participating in greater leadership responsibilities.

This position provides a clear pathway to further Primary leadership, with the opportunity to influence whole-school strategy as an Assistant Head of Primary.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

Qualified Teacher Status and extensive experience with the British National Curriculum.


A minimum of three years’ experience in a Key Stage leadership role or an equivalent position, demonstrating tangible impact.


A solid understanding of curriculum design, assessment, and effective teaching methodologies.


A dedication to nurturing the whole child, encompassing academic success, well-being, and essential competencies.


Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.


A reflective, cooperative, and solution-oriented mindset.


Experience in an EAL-rich or international setting is preferred.

Greek Applicants - You must hold a relevant degree and have completed the registry of teachers for private schools (Epetirida), or possess qualifications to do so. Please be aware that international qualifications are not recognized as qualified teacher status for Greek candidates within Greece.

International Applicants - You must have a relevant degree from the country of your passport and hold a pertinent teaching qualification from that same country. UK applicants must possess QTS with a Department for Education Teacher Reference Number. Note that the iPGCE is not currently recognized in Greece, and language qualifications such as TESOL or DELTA are not accepted.

Compensation
