About This Role
The Teaching Assistant will collaborate with teachers throughout the school, providing support in lesson delivery and contributing to the overall care and well-being of the students. This role involves working closely with fellow teaching assistants and may include responsibilities such as supervising the playground, as well as assisting with after-school clubs and activities. The ideal Teaching Assistant should exhibit flexibility, enthusiasm, and a high level of energy.
Key responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant include: fostering a positive and nurturing learning atmosphere that caters to the individual needs of each child; aiding students in the classroom through one-on-one support or by working with small groups engaging in teacher-led activities; assisting the teacher in preparing class resources, which includes tasks like photocopying, laminating, and cutting materials; helping to create an engaging and vibrant classroom environment, with displays that represent various curriculum areas and are updated each half term; listening to students read and providing feedback in their reading record books; supervising outdoor playtime in the school playground; ensuring the safety of groups of children during transitions, such as walks to and from Frognal or during school trips; maintaining cleanliness and organization in the classroom throughout the school day; and developing positive relationships with students, parents, and staff members at the JB.
Teaching assistants at UCS Junior Branch are compensated on a structured pay scale ranging from C1 to C10. The school offers complimentary lunches, coffee, and refreshments, in addition to a free gym membership at UCS Active. Typically, we are also able to provide free school-branded sportswear.
