About This Role

RAF Benson Community Primary School is a welcoming and inclusive local authority school at the heart of a vibrant military community. Due to a successful funding bid from the Armed Forces Education Trust, we are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join our amazing team to support learning across the school for the next academic year. We have opportunities equivalent to up to 2 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) positions and welcome applications from candidates seeking either full-time or part-time hours. As these roles are funded for 1 academic year, they will be a temporary position.

Available working patterns include:

  • Full Time: 8:45am - 3:15pm, Monday to Friday (including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)
  • Part Time Morning: 8:45am - 1:15pm, Monday to Friday
  • Part Time Afternoon: 12:00pm - 3:15pm, Monday to Friday

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children's learning, wellbeing and development. Working closely with teachers and other professionals, you will help in supporting our children in a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting children in the classroom, individually and in small groups
  • Helping to deliver engaging learning activities
  • Encouraging children's confidence, independence and social development
  • Supporting children with additional learning needs where appropriate
  • Assisting with classroom organisation and preparation of resources
  • Promoting positive behaviour and high expectations
  • Supporting children's wellbeing and safeguarding at all times

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine passion for helping children learn and succeed
  • Has GSCE (or equivalent) English and Maths grade C or above
  • Is patient, caring and positive
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is flexible, proactive and willing to learn
  • Can build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues

Previous experience of working with children is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from experienced Teaching Assistants as well as those looking to begin a rewarding career in education.
