An application for an EHCP is in progress.

Good communication skills and the ability to use positive behaviour management strategies are essential. An understanding of Intensive Interaction (engaging with the children while playing and modelling how to play and interact with peers) is desirable but not essential.

Please see the Job Description and person specification which are attached. You will need to be able to plan, deliver and monitor learning to meet the needs of the child, as well as adapting materials to support the child’s development.

The following attributes are necessary:
A variety of communication skills to respond to the needs of the child

Ability to build a positive working relationship with parents and carers
Empathy and understanding of children's individual learning abilities
Knowledge, understanding and experience of working with children with special educational needs
Patience and a good sense of humour

Willingness to liaise and work with outside agencies such as Speech and Language therapist

Flexibility.

The successful candidate will have a passion and enthusiasm for working with children, be creative, dedicated and have a positive attitude to joining a forward-thinking school.

You must be able to demonstrate that you can build excellent relationships, want to make a difference to all children and have excellent communication and organisational skills.

Your role will include contributing to the delivery and monitoring of interventions for individuals and small groups, supporting assessments and evidencing learning, working with the teacher to create stimulating classroom displays and learning resources plus building positive relationships with the children by being an approachable, caring and supportive role model.

More information about the school can be found on our school website.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.
