Teacher of Physics
Cambridge High School (CHS) is a co-educational school, established in 1883, with a roll of approximately 1,800 students. Cambridge is in the heart of the Waikato region and has recently become a focus for elite sport with cycling, triathlon, kayaking and rowing establishing their New Zealand bases here. Cambridge High School serves the interests of the community incredibly well, meeting the varied academic, trades, cultural and sporting needs of our students. An opportunity exists to join our science faculty as teacher of science with a specialty in physics. Our faculty is student-focused, collegial and supportive. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, future-focused and open to the opportunities provided with blended e-learning and the coming curriculum changes. The role is perfect for a teacher who is looking to effect positive change for teachers and learners in physics. An understanding of NCEA assessment is advantageous.
This is a full-time fixed term position starting on 20 July to cover a maternity leave vacancy.
The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by the Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement. The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $61,329 to $103,086, depending on applicant’s qualifications and experience. Individuals’ actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach physics to secondary students (Years 7-15).
- Collaborate with colleagues in the science faculty.

Qualifications
- Registered teacher with a valid teaching certificate.
- Experience in teaching physics is preferred.
- Understanding of NCEA assessment is advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
