Job Specification:

  • Create and implement dynamic, play-based music lessons that align with the EYFS curriculum, fostering creativity, confidence, and a love for music.
  • Facilitate engaging sessions that involve singing, rhythm, movement, and the use of simple instruments.
  • Apply strong subject knowledge and effective teaching strategies to motivate and engage young learners.
  • Develop lesson plans tailored to the individual needs, interests, and developmental stages of children.
  • Customize instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and EAL.
  • Observe and assess children’s musical progress in line with EYFS assessment practices.
  • Establish and maintain positive behavior expectations consistent with school policy.
  • Utilize ICT and relevant technologies to enrich teaching and learning experiences.
  • Support school performances, assemblies, productions, and enrichment activities.
  • Organize and oversee music resources, ensuring instruments are used and stored safely.
  • Communicate professionally with parents regarding their children's progress while upholding confidentiality.
  • Comply with safeguarding, child protection, health, and safety policies at all times.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and collaborate with the wider EYFS and school community.
  • Engage in after-school activities and undertake any other reasonable duties as requested.

Person Specification:

Education: A high-quality degree in Music with QTS

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching music in an EYFS environment

Competencies:

  • A deep passion for teaching music to young children in an interactive and engaging manner, aimed at achieving optimal learning outcomes.
  • Capability to support and guide students in developing their performance and composition skills, helping them bring their musical ideas to life.
  • A strong grasp of music theory and its practical application within an educational framework.
  • Ability to confidently demonstrate and model singing and performing in the classroom.
  • Flexibility in adapting teaching strategies to support students with diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, fostering positive professional relationships.
  • A commitment to upholding current safeguarding practices.
  • A readiness to contribute to the broader school community.
  • Capacity to adapt quickly to a fast-paced, international, multicultural, and dynamic environment.
