About This Role

The Sahtú Divisional Education Council is on the lookout for skilled individuals to fill the role of High School Mathematics and/or Science Teacher.

Location

Chief T'Selehye School, Fort Good Hope and Mackenzie Mountain School, Norman Wells

Required Education and Preferred Qualifications

  • Eligibility for an NWT Teaching Certificate
  • A Bachelor of Education degree
  • A strong background in teaching Mathematics or Science for grades 8-12 in both large and small group settings
  • Knowledge of the curricula from Alberta, British Columbia, and Northwest Territories
  • Experience in preparing students for and administering diploma-level assessments
  • Skills to assist students in transitioning from secondary education to post-secondary options
  • Ability to Indigenize curriculum and teaching practices to promote student success
  • Strong collaborative skills for working with colleagues to enhance student academic performance in mathematics and encourage lifelong learning
  • A commitment to establishing meaningful connections within the community and actively participating in the vibrant cultural and extracurricular life of the school

Salary and Benefits

Salary will be based on experience and qualifications, ranging from $95,232 to $153,748 annually, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes a Northern Living Allowance of approximately $28,000 and relocation support.
